Normally a have small amount of mucus discharge about a week to two weeks before my period. But today I noticed that there is more than usual and for the first time it has some brown in with it, like old blood. I sure it is probibly nothing, but i just wanted to check. I have been completely regualer since I was 11, so something new makes me worry a little.

It is very hard to make a suggestion when we don’t know when you ovulated, when you are about to get your period, if you had sex lately and if the sex was protected or not. Your age may point out a few things as well.
Anyway, what often cause spotting when the period is not due are ovarian cysts. Ovarian cysts occur around or after ovulation but usually go away on their own and don’t cause many problems. They can get bigger though and fill with blood. More than often, ovarian cysts cause pain during ovulation and around periods and spotting when the period is not due. You need to have a pelvic exam or an ultrasound to have this checked.
Other possible reasons are different infection, either sexually or non-sexually transmitted.
It could be something transient as well, something whose cause can’t be established but if it happens again, you should certainly see a gynecologist.
