Same thing happened to my son. Problems started a week after braces came on, but I didn´t see the connection until a year after - a year full of hospital, pain, cronic sickness and total fatigue, pale and sick-looking. Then I connected the dates of dental visits (putting new strings on braces) and when he was really sick. Even the doctors said there had to be a connection but we didn´t do any tests. We removed braces and after a week we got our son back as he was before.

I am experiencing the same! After 4 months of strange pain in throat, runny nose, abdominal pain, joints and muscles. It is the braces-nickel allergy! Take them off, I did the same only 2 days ago. That thing ruined my life in the past 4 months and I am worrying now for long term effects.

I had braces put on December 2016, since they've been on I too have experienced allergies. My jaws, inner lips and tongue is extremely sore. My tongue is swollen, no taste buds and has changed from pink to a strawberry red. My lips are chapped and have blisters forming on my lips. In my 42 years I've never had a problem with chapped lips or blisters until I got braces.

Hi, I just come back from the orthodontist having my 16 years old daughters metal braces removed. I read up yesterday the above and realised the nickel in her braces have caused her a severe acne, only worsening as time goes, 6 months, despite meds/antibiotics. Now just wait and see!

OMG! I've been to several doctors over the last three months and to no avail. Until yesterday I saw a periodontist and immediately he said its an allergic reaction. My lips have been burning and tingling off and on. It's just good to hear that I'm not crazy. Calling in the am to get this braces OFF!

Hi My name is Mary, and I notice a couple of months after I got braces on my lower teeth, I notice severe and suffering from severe upper abdominal pain and feeling like vomiting. My stomach have been in severe pain all the time and I never had this problem before in my life until I got these braces on my teeth, I asked my doctor and his response was none of his patience complained about this before, well I thought I'm different and I mentioned to his I thought I could be allergic to them, and one Nurse spoke up and said that they have Nickel in them. Well I thought that is it this can be why I sick on my stomach and vomiting all the time. I'm beginning to think it may be the nickel in the braces, I know it is, because I never experience this before until I got these braces. And I was admitted in the hospital for being so nauseous for over 5 months, and I asked the Dr. in the Emergency room, could this be possible that it is coming from these braces on my teeth. No one want to hear the truth. I really think these braces are making me sick on my stomach.

I am suffering from acne too after my braces , I used to have one or two but now all my face is covered with acne. Thanks for the information, I will go my orthodontic today and will talk to him about if there is other options to fix the problem.

My face is full of acne after braces too , it is almost 7 months now, I did everything antibiotics and all kind of blood test , never thought it will be braces. Cannot take off for another 1.5 years ...so frustrating. Would talk to my orthodontic. Let me know if your daughter acne got better. I don't know how I am gonna survive for another 1.5 years with this problem.

So, I am allergic to nickel, and I got braces 4 months ago. I've gained 40 pounds, and rashes behind the ears. Is the weight gain related to that?
