Thanks to everyone who has posted on this board.  I just got off of Yaz after taking it for 5 months. I have been off for nearly a month and am still battling anxiety, fatigue, and just not feeling like myself. It makes me feel better to know that I am not alone in my symptoms.  Please continue to share your stories so that we can help other women learn about this awful drug.  Since I have started telling my story, I've had two different friends realize that the symptoms of anxiety, fatigue, and nausea they were experiencing were being caused by Yaz.  I recently wrote a post on my blog about my experience.  I would love for all of you to comment there as well.  Doctors believe that less than 3% of women who take Yaz have negative side effects, but I don't think that is true at all.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is hypertension.  I am a healthy 27 yr old woman.  I do not smoke and I'm not overweight.  I only took Yaz for 1 month and today was my last day taking the pill.  I went to my doctor last weekend and my blood pressure was up to 140 systolic and was in the high 90's diastolic.  My blood pressure has NEVER been up there.  I continued checking my blood pressure over the weekend and my last day taking the pill, I checked twice.  Two hours after taking the pill (the pill should peak after about 2 hours) my blood pressure was 130/77 which was much higher than it was prior to taking the pill.  I contacted my doctor and he told me to stop taking them immediately.  I am absolutely terrified that my blood pressure shot up the way that it did, but I'm extremely thankful that I was able to catch it before it got any worse.  I am going to continue to monitor my blood pressure to ensure that Yaz was, in fact, the cause of the hypertension and I pray that it was the only cause.  From posts in other forums I have read, I am pretty sure Yaz is the cause of my high blood pressure.  I understand that all pills have side effects and that a lot of side effects are similar among birth control pills, but this pill is entirely too controversial and its risks seem to outweigh its benefits all around.

I was on YAZ for a few years until just recently I realized that I had almost the exact reaction you did. I felt completely crazy, depressed, angry and disinterested. I have been off of it for about 4 days now and I am tired and I have a constant headache that hasn't completely gone away. I was terrified of what I was becoming, too. I hope that your symptoms have gone away and I hope that I can get over this c**p, too. Thank you for leaving your feedback. It helped me feel better about also linking my problems to YAZ.

My daughter was on Yaz for only four days and started having the anxiety attacks and shortness of breath. She also experienced numbness in her arms and legs not to mention the horrible head ache. I'm not sure why this product is still available and all physicians should think twice before prescribing it. I know we will tell everyone we know what an awful experience she had with it.

My 17 year old daughter recently started yaz and took it for 12 days before we stopped it. She was prescribed it as she was to do a month long trip to India with a school group and the convenience of not havig a period was her reason. The day prior to starting yaz she had a headache of “normal” type. She is not a migraine sufferer and only occasionally gets a shortlived headache sometimes reqiring panadol. The day after she started her period and started on yaz. She has had a constant headache ever since. She has had numerous investigations including MRI brain and neck both normal. Tried numerous medications and physical therapies with no effect. She has now had the headache nearly 11 weeks and stopped yax over 9 weeks ago. She is physically exhausted and tired and unable to concentrate. She is normally a straight A student and about to do her final school year next year. This has been devastating. Has anyone else had a similar experience and could this still be a result of the Yaz exarcerbating an otherwise “normal” headache. Can anyone suggest what to do, we are still consulting a variety of doctors

I had a similar experience when i quit YAZ july 1st this year. Along with a myriad of other horrible withdrawals, i had a constant migraine in my eyebrow almost every day all day for exactly 3 months. My doctor who had prescribed the YAZ vehemently denied any connection of my symptoms to the YAZ. So i went to a different health clinic and spoke with a doctor who explained the hormonal balance i was experiencing coming off the pills was common and directly responsible for my constant migraine, daily panic attacks, severe depression, dissasociation, lack of energy,12 lb weight gain that occured during the course of 4 days, extreme chest pain, and the most bizarre and to me the most uncomfortable thing that happened: EXTREME hot AND cold flashes ALL day Every day for exactly 3 months. iam 23 years old- NEVER experienced any of these things until the 2nd day after quitting YAZ. Anyway the doctor told me "RIDE IT OUT- let the hormones leave and let your body acclimate to normality again, you'll most likely not have any of those symptoms in 3 months". Finally HERE's THE GOOD NEWS: she was right, it did take 3 exhausting months but every day i started feeling more like myseld and by Nov 1st i no longer had ANY of those goddamned miserable symptoms. Im back to my old happy self, outgoing, normal happy moods, laughter, energy, NO anxiety, no migraines no awful hot/cold flashes. IT FEELS GOOD :) but i'm still very enraged that no one warned me about any of that, i feel really strong having been though that experience and overcome it but the thing is- it wasn't natural. It was like i was guinea pig for this yaz bc and when i tried to tell the doctor who'd prescribed it- he didn't want to hear any of it because he gets money from yaz to prescribe it and doesnt care if it risks the patient's health. I read about it extensively during those 3 months and it's a nightmare- some girls have died from it. It's not just a simple pill you take and don't have to worry about getting pregnant, it's a hormonal/chemical experiment you are participating in that could temporarily ruin your life/health so i'm telling as many people as possible to think twice about pc pills. As for any supplements or natural remedies- i had to quit coffee during the 3 months of coming off it aswell as sugar and junk food, green tea helps- i couldnt afford st johns wort or evening prim rose i hear those help ALOT- someone gave me vitex and it made the hot/cold flashes worse so i threw it the hell away- and pretty much just trusted my body to do it thing because it knows best how to heal. Also in no way am i suggesting using valium on a regular basis- don't- however for those days i had panic attacks that i just couldnt get through i would take a valium and iam so glad because that's what it's for- is those emergency situations- it was a godsend at those times haha! Don't worry ladies it goes away after 3 months for some reason it takes that long for it to leave your body and readjust so hang in there it will be over soon and you'l be sooo @#!%ing happy when it is, trust me i went through all that junk, when it's over life goes back to how it was before all that happend to you.

I read about all these symptoms of yaz and I started experiencing severe panic attacks. I will never put another one in my mouth. But is there anyone who knows how long afterward the side effects last?
