hi,
ive recently experienced the worst pain you could possibly imagine a few days ago. As I'm sitting down using the bathroom I had this uncomfortable pain shoot through my lower abdomen and decided it'd probably be best if I laid down, however, when I had gotten up I couldn't stand up straight. The pain was agonizing, I could barely walk and had severe swelling in my lower abdomen. I lay in bed to wait for the pain to go away and it just gets worse.
this pain was like no other I've ever experienced in my entire life (I'm only 27, but have had a child and have experienced labor pain of a breech baby) this pain was worse than that. After 30 minutes of this pain my fiancé convinced me to go to the emergency. As I'm getting ready to sit up I have this shooting aching/pressure/stabbing pain in my vagina and bum. Getting up screaming in pain I can barely walk, getting everyone else in the house to help me dressed (I was getting ready for bed)
on the way to the emergency I went cold and couldn't stop shaking (at that point the pain had been radiating to my lower back, up my sides and into my thighs) when I had finally made it to the emergency I waited 3 hours for someone to see me (at that point the pain had subsided long enough I felt safe to go home) so we had left.
Two days later, still having pain I went back to down the emergency and waited for another 9 hours for a doctor. They had performed a test (pushing on all parts of my abdomen to make sure it wasn't from appendicitis) not what it was, this test was agonizing and but they ultimately diagnosed this as a ruptured ovarian cyst. They also had given me a pelvic exam and did swab tests for starting infection.
the day after this exam I start bleeding (which immnotnsure is my period or not, it's very heavy and full of blood clots, the pain still hasn't subsided and is more of a constant dull achy pain with small breaks and then start again but for the most part is constant.
Since they didn't perform an ultrasound I'm unsure of the amount of damage this rupture caused or if there's anymore. I'm a health freak and it's killing me that the didn't perform a very basic and informing procedure like an ultrasound.
Does anyone have any information or ways to tell if there's infection starting, if I have any more of these things ready to rupture or certain testing that is more informing than a pelvic exam? My concern is they didn't do these tests, there's still pain and nothing antibiotic wise was prescribed to at least prevent infection from even starting in the first place.
thanks
