I got my period last friday (Feb 15) and was forced to have unprotected sex on monday (Feb 18) at like 3am. My friend told me even though I was on my period, to take Plan B. I took the first pill on tuesday at 9:30 pm, and took the second at 9 am on wednesday. Thursday I became really sick with a horrible sore thraot, and a minor fever. Yesterday I went to my campus health center, and they prescribed me Azithromycin (similar to a Z pack). I havent taken any pills yet because I do not know if I should. But here are a few questions I would appreciate answers to.

1. Will taking an antibiotic ruin the chances of Plan B working?

2. Do you think I became sick from taking Plan B?

3. Since I was on my period during sex, what is the likelyhood of pregnancy?

4. We were both under the influence of alcohol, is this considered rape if i was forced?

1. Plan B and antibiotics don't interfere with one another. The drug will still work if the antibiotics are taken.

2. Women can become sick after taking Plan B, such as getting nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, headache, menstrual changes, dizziness, breast tenderness, vomiting, and diarrhea. However, I personally don't think it would cause a sore throat and fever. Since your doctor prescribed antibiotics, I assume they conducted tests and the tests came back confirming a bacterial infection. I suggest you take the antibiotics.

3. The likelihood of pregnancy is small when a woman is on her period. However, because her body may be changing or for any number of reasons, she can get pregnant any time. Still, the chances are small.

4. Even if he was drunk, being forced to have sex is rape. I suggest you talk to a rape counselor on how to get treated in all areas in which you need help. Also, this person can help with the legal ramifications of the situation, such as where to go from here. I'm sure there are services on your campus as well as in the county. You can look them up at your school's health center's website or in your local phonebook.
