Hi. I am 66 and had light vaginal bleeding a few days after taking steroids and an injection in my knee. I read all about it but still went to my gynocologist and she wanted to check it out further but I declined. But now after about 10 weeks I haven't seen blood but a little brownish discharge. It scares me. Has anyone including you had more than the one incidence of bleeding?

Wow so glad to have found this site. I had a cortisone injection about 2 weeks ago for bursitis in my hip. 3 days ago I experienced all my usual premenstrual symptoms nausea, abdo discomfort, constipation some pink spotting, general lethargy and insomnia. Only problem is I am 3 to 4 years post menopausal! I have been to my GP and booked in for a Pap smear and pelvic ultrasound. I am so tempted to cancel..did I mention really awful anxiety...I was wondering what was wrong with me !

Thank God I read this! My last period was literally 20 years ago and last week I started spotting. My husband (of all people) said he thought it was because I'd just had 2 cortisone shots and it probably messed up my hormone levels. I wasn't able to get an appointment with my doctor for 3 weeks, so I decided to look it up and found all of your stories. Thanks ladies. This is weight off my shoulders.

I'm sad to say ... your doc would likely have caused you even more worry, taken up a lot more of your time with diagnostic testing AND so cost u a bunch more money in the process. I am convinced they are not this dumb but rather willfully ignorant, and sadly for the sole purpose of making money. Cynical i know, but true, IMHO. Best of luck to you!

I had a cortisone injection in my shoulder on Oct 16, 2017, started bleeding day before Thanksgiving after 20 months no period!!! It’s funny because in the last two weeks I’ve had cramps and sore breasts and thought, gee if I didn’t know better I feel like I should get my period!? Low and behold! So I went to my GYN and she ran blood tests and ultra sound and blood shows I’m def post meno, but lining of uterus is double the thickness it should be. Around 7 instead of 3-3.5. So next step is uterine biopsy to check for cancer. I’m sure this is all due to the cortisone shot and my GYN believes this too but we have to be sure so I’m having this done on Dec 5, 2017. If biopsy comes back normal then it def from this damn cortisone. I’ll never get one of those shots again!

This is awesome that people can share I also had a cortisone shot in my shoulder within a couple of weeks I started having cramping like as if I were on my. I felt it in my lower back and this went on for 3 days I have not had my menstrual period for a brown 9 years then all of a sudden I start to bleed I'm freaking out call people to pray for me I was never told that this would happen went through a Pap test an ultrasound and another test at the hospital so who's making money off of people because of ignorance so I have another shot to be happening in my lower back for problems that I'm going to cancel cuz I'm not going through this again I guess I'll have to just deal with the pain in my lower back and after just a couple of weeks of the shot in my shoulder the pain is coming back again so I just feel that God has a different plan thank you for everybody's input

Hello, I too had a steroid shot (Kenalog). Got it late monday, started spotting Tuesday night, then turned into full menstrual bleeding by Wednesday, after not having a period for 2yrs. Was not informed of any such side effect. Very disturbing...

Same thing happened to me -1st time no one related the 2 -the 2nd time I knew it was the shot since I am 70 also - the 1st time I went to GYN and had testing done - nothing found -this time am just waiting for it to stop. Wish I had been forewarned too because we think the worse.

Same thing after almost 6 years of menopause.

Orthopedist: "that happens to a small percentage of individuals, sorry you are one of them"
Primary MD: "never heard of such a thing, I'm gonna send you to a specialist in vaginal bleeding"
Specialist (almost 30 years old): "I never heard of such a thing, this could be cancer." Biopsy and a bunch of expensive tests later, everything is normal. "Call me if it happens again"

Have another injection 6 months later (first one offered great relief in my knee) and same thing happens.
Specialist:"come in, we'll do another biopsy"....
