i had cryotherapy about a week ago after testing positive for HPV about 1 month ago. Six days after cryo, i had unprotected intercourse w/ my partner (monogamous relationship- he is aware of the hpv). Immediately after cryotherapy i had a very watery discharge. After intercourse (the 6th day after cryo) my discharge became bloody. Am I at risk for HPV again? Is my cervix ruined from having sex? im scared! :-(

Haven’t you been given instruction by your gyn on how to behave after cryo and about the symptoms that might occur after the cryotherapy?
If you haven’t, then I would have to say that was very unprofessional but if you didn’t listen to what your doctor said then it is your own fault.

First of all, during the cryo your cells are being destroyed by freezing. When the tissue is destroyed, it needs some time to heal and recover from this. The watery discharge is not because of the sex, it is a normal consequence of the cryo and represents the dead cells from the cervix going out of the body. The discharge may be bloody as well.

Sex shouldn’t be performed for at least 3 weeks after the surgery. By inserting something to your vagina, including both penis and tampons (or whatever), you are risking an infection.

You shouldn’t douche either.

According to your present symptoms, you are fine. However, if the following symptoms occur you should see a doctor as soon as possible. Dangerous symptoms are: prolonged and heavy bleeding, abdominal pain, fever and the discharge that has a very bad odor.

I also had cryo done about 2 weeks ago. The rule is that you shouldn't have sex until all the watery discharge completetly dissapears (might take up to 3 months, takes longer for a few people.) My watery discharge has dissapear, but i haven't had sex yeat. I want my cervix to heal completetly i don't want to damage my cervix, because it is ever delicate. Talk to your husband he has to understand and do what ever is best for you.

I had the procedure done about a week ago. I have been feverish about lunch time and at night a few times, and not just regular cramping but more sharp pains in the low low abdomen. Im not sure if this is common or if I need to go seek a doctor. Im pretty miserable. Pretty much in pain all day since the day of the procedure. Not unbearable but enough to lose concentration off and on at work and be exhausted before dinner time. What should I do??

Quote: I had the procedure about 5 days ago..and I've been having lower abdominal pain as well...i spoke with my doctor and she said this was normal and should subside within a few more days...also if you're having an odor after urination, she said this is normal as well.. For the pain rotate between Ibuprofen as well as Tylenol every 4 hours!

I had cyro done a week ago. My doctor told me I didn't have to wait to have sex but wait to use a tampon for 6 weeks because the fibers can stick to your cervix. Also I was given an instruction sheet for douching after cyro starting the day of the procedure and continuing everyday for two weeks alternating with a vinegar water solution and providone iodine.

An odor and fever represent an infection. This happened to me. You should get on an antibiotic if you have these symptoms.

Doctor told me it's not save to have sex with your partner because you run the risk of getting the virus again! He needs to go with an oncologist and get checked
