hi there, i'm really worried cause I had an abnormal pap smear and my gyn did cryotherapy one time it did not work so we did it another time. then I took a regulary pap smear, he said I should not worry about doing the cryo another time since my HPV is negative, but this time my pap smear came back worst and he said I have to do a biopsy. I'd really like to know what caused the pap test to become worse? thank you

It could happen that some of the abnormal cells were missed and that your doctor meant that this time pap smear was the worst.
Abnormal cervical cells grow very slow. Although they do represent pre-cancerous cells, it may take up to ten years for a woman to develop cancer.
