Hi, I just had my LEEP performed today and it went really well..my main concern is its reoccurence..my boyfriend and I have been sleeping with eachother for a few months now without condoms (i'm on the birth control pill) so I'm pretty sure that he is also infected with the HPV that I must also have. Has anyone in a marriage or serious relationship had the LEEP and then had unprotected sex again only to find that they can never get a clear pap for the follow up exams. My doctor says that my body will hopefully build the immunity and I will not be reinfected...Please respond soon this is driving me crazy!!

Hi, I'm 25 and I've had the LEEP procedure done twice, once in Aug then to find out four months after that i had precancer cells again. i just had the second procedure done a week ago so reoccurence is extremely possible. I've been in a serious relationship with the same guy since i've had this problem and yes we've had unprotected sex and yes i havent had a normal pap since. My advice to you is keep up with your appt's and make sure you have frequent pap's. I now have to see a Specialist rather then a regular gyni and my doctor has never confirmed nor has he ever gave me a test for HPV he says its possible that i have it but there's other factors that can be related to dysplasia. I hope this helps :)

I was diagnosed with high grade lesions on my cervix just after I started seeing my boyfriend. I have had no other partners since, but I do have a high-risk strain of the HPV virus and had my LEEP last November. I just went back today for my 4 months follow up colposcopy and they found mild dysplasia, for which they took a punch biopsy. I am certain at this time that my boyfriend has whatever HPV I have, so how am I going to ever get healthy, does HPV mutate into different strains?

Hi, I know where your coming from. I feel the same way im always scared to go to my doctors appt's in fear of bad news.
When i was diagnosed i had Severe Dysplasia and my doctor said i'd have cancer within a year. So the only problem you have to worry about is developing Cancer but as long as you follow up on your visits to the gyni and get the dysplasia treated they say HPV usually goes away on its own, I dont know how true that is but you can have hope i sure try to.
