I have fallen twice from the steroid and cortisone injections I received. Also red rash on both of my lower legs. They do not give you enough warnings

Thank you so much for telling me about your problems. I also had shots and my legs broke out in a rash. I must be allergic. Never thought about it. Thank you

I had an injection for a left sided frozen shoulder which took the pain away fairly instantly with just some minor bruising pain at the site of injection. the pain & stiffness returned in 3 months in both shoulders so I had injections in both.
This time I had a headache and high blood pressure for about a week. I use homeopathic medicine and it was only after this that my BP finally returned to normal.
Its now two months since the injection and three weeks ago I started with an intensely itchy rash with blisters/lumps over both shoulders & upper arms. Its still itchy now, but I am getting fewer blister each day than I was.
I'm still pain free and mobile, but it has been a huge price to pay.

I had 2 injections ( 1 in each shoulder) in late June. Within a week, I had ear ringing, bottom of feet stinging, and butt burning like I sat on a fire ant bed. It was so crazy. Dr. Said its not related and gave 2 more shots in September. Symptoms got worse. ENT said I have tinnitus, but I have 0 hearing loss which is not the normal pattern. I have above normal- I feel like the bionic woman in my ears. ENT said it was not related to cortisone. The worse problem has been the fire like feeling on my rear- every day since July! Been to primary Dr., Gyno, gastro, and dermo. They see nothing, but give me another type Creme to try in case it might help. Nada! Dermo suggested I see a neurologist. I now have an appointment at Mayo Clinic in December. I felt like a crazy person with theses weirdo symptoms. I didn't even tell anybody about my scalded mouth feeling, heart palpitations or heightened sense of smell. I am so glad I found this site. Is there any antecdote to rid myself of these reactions? I am sick of saying my butt is burning and my ears are ringing!

I just had a cortizone injection this morning into my AC joint in my shoulder, he did 2 all together - first the AC joint, then the bursa at the joint. He then asked me to lift my arms to get the shoulder moving (about 30 seconds had gone by since the injection) and I suddenly felt cold starting from the feet working the way up to my head, then I saw stars, mentioned it to the doctor and I fainted. A few seconds later I woke up on their medical table, with the worst headache I have ever experienced in my life that lasted 10-15 minutes before getting better and I was drenched in sweat. When I felt well enough I returned home, and was exhausted from the whole experience, so I took a nap. Then I woke up 3 hours later and my shoulder currently hurts more than it ever has before - I'm hoping it will get better in a couple days. I've had many small procedures done, with no issues in my life, needles, given blood, had a toe nail removed, had a cyst removed, hernia repair etc... but this was definitely my scariest medical experience in my life. 30 year old male. I also remember them taking my blood pressure while all this was going on and it was 110/50 - I don't really know what that means, but I know my normal is 125/90..

OMG. I'm the same!!!! I feel awful. I've been bleeding on a period for 2 weeks after having the injection for tennis elbow 3 weeks ago. Diarrhea, migraines, mood swings, etc. Not stopping. Thought I have cancer or something. I even had a panic attack over it until I read Google. Never EVER again.

It's about a month now since my shots. After about 2 days of severe pain after the shot, my pain level is very low, it didn't totally eliminate all the pain, there seems to be a few pains left. Overall I am okay after my reaction, and the shoulder does feel much better now. I'm still skeptical about getting another shot due to my reaction, it was literally the scariest moment of my life so far. Everything worked out, no long lasting side effects that I'm noticing.

I had my one and only, so far, Lumbar Epidural shot about 2 moths ago - all seemed fine, never had any of the symptoms others suggest, at least none that really stick out, although there could have been one that is now haunting me
I am and have been a professional sports trainer and athlete for many years. I am now 62 years of age and although I hurt my back during a work related accident, I have been in very good health and shape, esthetically most of my life. As mentioned above, its been a couple of months since my one and only Epidural shot and 2 weekends ago I had my wife take me to the emergency hospital early in the morning due to severe lower left abdominal pains, of which had started slowly during the day and increasingly got very severe. I can assure you, I can take a lot of pain and generally never try to use any form of medication, or such, so for me to want to go to a hospital, well you can imagine the pain. It was as if someone was sticking a sword into me in continuous motion, on and on and on, at the same time the sword was dipped in furnace and blazing hot!
Come to find out, CT showed I had Diverticulitis. Me? Mr. health and fitness nut all these years? Come on, your not serious? Well yes they were and they gave me meds and of I went.
For a few days I took the meds and all seemed well. I started thinking back and remembered mentioning to my wife a week after receiving that Epidermal shot, I started having same, although milder symptoms, and we both thought it was gas, for it sort of feels this way when it's in it's milder state; thought nothing of the shot at the time. In the hospital the Dr. mentioned that these can come on if not enough fiber in the diet. Yeah well, I told the doc. that I do pretty good in all the departments of nutrition and fitness, which he testified that I looked in remarkable shape, and health, other then what I was experiencing.
After my hospital trip, I looked into my diet, and to be very honest its pretty darn good, as I thought. Only think I decided to add to make sure, as we do with vitamins; not wanting to miss a thing - add a little more fiber through drinking 2 glasses a day of V-8 Low Sodium.
So now its time again for my second shot of Epidural - I called my Orthopedic for another shot thinking nothing of it and after getting in the appointment they asked if anything had changed since last visit a couple months ago? I said that had the episode of Diverticulitis, which they told me they could not proceed until I received a release from my PD, of which I did in writing.
I did asked my Primary Doctor why was this necessary? She mentioned that the Steroids used (Epidural) can be cause for symptoms, and/or activate Diverticulitis, blah-blah-blah due to its absorption in the intestinal walls.
Well in Googling all this mess since, I've come to find out that there could be a correlation as to how I obtained Diverticulitis in the first place; Epidermal shots! So now that I am cleared to get another shot, and mind you I am continuing the slight discomforts of day to day of the Diverticulitis of which my Dr. has cleared me of if I wanted to get Epidermal shots, in reading more into it, I have called my Orthopedic and canceled my appointments until further investigation into this. Anotherwords, I rather deal with my pain in the back to which I can find some relief through my fitness exercises programs, then having to throw my system out of whack from drugs given for my back relief.
Look, I like foods to much and hate the fact that something worst may come down the road in proceeding with these shots. Take heed friends, I truly believe there is substance to this; hopefully I caught it early enough and can get back to normal...

Wow, surprised you can get injections for spine. I had those symptoms and they wanted me to try a lot of other things before shots. Easier to get shot for hip or knee pain. I did get better after a few years with PT and Nortriptyline. Good luck.

I completely understand all your symptoms...as this is exactly what I've been experiencing for the last week. I return to the Dr tomorrow....never ever getting these shots again, I guess I will just have to suffer if there's no other options.

I realise that your was orignally posted over a year ago but I had a cortisone injection into my right tendon sheath on the Monday and on the Thursday I was taken to hospital by the Queensland Ambulance Service with pain in my chest, my heart and everything checked out normal but the pain was still there. I asked the drs about it being a side effect from the injection but I got no answers. So after I was discharged several hours later I goggled intigestion and side effect from cortisone injection and bingo there it was, one of the side effects can be what I was feeling. I have had cortisone injections before with no side effects but this was into the joints and not the tendon sheath. I still occassionaly get the effect whicih isn't normal for me, I am now taking a tablet every morning for 3 months.
