Teenage daughter developed a beauty of an ear pimple the night before a big class trip out of state. Pharmacist recc'd a topical ointment (over the counter) for the pain of the swelling, some generic Benzocaine. It helped. Next day she called to say it was oozing (and grossing her out). She cleaned it as best she could with a tissue. By time she got home days later, the swelling was down and healing on its own. I swabbed it with hydrogen peroxide, tried to push a little more of the ooze out of the pimple (till she said it hurt), swabbed with HP again then followed up with a bit of Neosporin.

Took her to doctor who said that's all she would have done and now, six days since initial onset, it's healed and the kid has to be told NOT to put her iPod earphone into that ear just yet.

Mothers...jeez....

I get them from time to time.. I always pop them as soon as possible because that is the only way mine ever go away or stop hurting.

We'll needless to say, my ear starts hurting the other day and I know I'm in for another one. Yesterday it got to the point where it was really starting to give me that panging pain that usually means it's popable. This one is really deep and in like these folds near the entrance to my ear canal and I can't get to it. My girlfriend can't even get to it. It's burried in the cracks of my ear flaps but central enough that I can't get "under" it because my skull is "under it". I've never had one here.

Every time I've had one before it was like on the flap part where I could just bet behind/under it with one hand pressing upwards and give it a little squeeze at it's head with tthe other and it would just explode. A sharp moment of pain and it was all over.

This one I don't know wtf to do and am starting to panic. It's going to be a long road ahead I know.

I'll have to try not to mess with it. It's hurting so bad from me trying to pop it that I almost want to grind my teeth.

A few months ago I had a terrible pain in my ear that felt like I was getting an ear infection. After about a week of worrying, and the pain getting worse, I had my boyfriend take a look. Sure enough, it was a huge pimple that had a head on it the size of a small child. He poked it with a q-tip and the damn thing exploded! It was far in my ear and I couldn't see it so I wasn't able to mess with it. I'd say just wait a week and it should be ready for harvest. LOL

I'll bet some of these ear pimples abscesses you all are getting is at the bottom of the ear canal. I had a massive one that came and went for years. The problem? TMJ!! Because my lower jaw was not in the correct position, it's almost as if the pimple found a nice comfy place to expand. When I remedied the TMJ, the pimple came to a head, I punctured it with a needle and squeezed it out. I applied hydro perox to the open wound. It took about 2 months for it to finally completely heal. It's never recurred.
Yep, they sure do hurt!

I have had a couple of in ear pimples, and I have found they cause numerous problems such as headaches, fatigue, and overall uneasy feeling. It is very difficult and painfull to do , but if you can pop it (I know mos don't recommend that you pop pimples) the feeling of relief is immediate and overwhelming. Almost a feelign of uphoria, I am not sure if it is because of teh painful process or what, but I can tell you I feel better instantly.

I had one when I was in Japan last month, and it popped on its own, and suddenly my ear felt wet and so I looked in the mirror in my room, and it had all this white stuff coming out. Anyways, it's shifted to a very close location (GODDAMMIT). It's so annoying.

i get them all the time they aren't that painful at all. I wonder what causes them. The ipod theory could be right. Oh well at least it not a big pimple in the middle of your face!

Wow, that sounds very odd. HOw do you suppose it popped on its own? I have never heard of a pimple actually popping itself so I am trying to figure out how that works. Do you know?

Hi. I have a pimple in my ear. It feels like a tube is going through my earlobe. Are all pimples (like forehead ones) this deep??? Do I have tubes in my head pimples as well? WTF?

Well sort of. The thing is that it's a filled-in pore, so it would feel sort of like a tube. So that's sort of what I think you were looking at for an answer. Does that help?

I have a pimple inside my ear canal. I popped it last week omg it was gross. But a new one appeared, I've tried everything hot compresses, ibuprofen, neosporin, proactive. It's so painful. It's spreading to my jaw and temple and alas I may have to go see the doctor. It's been 6 days since the symptoms first started and only temp relief. Unless, someone can give me another glimmer of hope.

You really need to see a doctor! Popping it the first time was dangerous enough, but this time you could do permanent damage to your hearing. Be careful and go to the doctor! Please let us know how it goes okay?

I really wouldn't worry all that much about it. I had one that caused my entire head to throb, especially through my jaw, i didn't know it was a pimple, because noone could see anything when they looked in my ear. I tried cleaning my ear and I guess I had popped it because the swab had blood on it. It scared me and it still hurt so I went to my doctor... She drained it and told me to press a warm washcloth on my ear and it would relieve it but since it was only a pimple there was really no reason to make a big deal of it, although the pain was awful.
I wouldn't pop it, because it hurts worse, it's like any other pimple, if you don't mess with it, it will go away, but since I had already accidentally popped it, my doctor drained it anyway, just don't touch it. And the warm washcloth really did soothe it, so I would recommend trying it.
Good Luck!

Shelly, I have a question for you. Do you have acne otherwise or was this sort of an anomaly for you? I am curious to know if this is a common issue or if it's rare. THanks!
