I recently started taking a new birth control. ortho lo and I have extreme cramps and brown spotting. If I take 3 ib profun they are gone for a while but the cramps wake me up to where they are uncomfortable where I cant sleep. Is it normal for the cramps and the brown spotting when I just started taking the new pill?

Cramping and breakthrough bleeding (bleeding halfway through the cycle) are normal side effects of the pill.
other side effects include:
nausea
tiredness
skipped/irregular bleeds
slight weight gain
breast enlargement
skin improvement/or worsening.
I must say I am a little concerned, as you have a leaflet that explains all this in the packet your pills came in, and if you saw a doctor or clinic to obtain the pills, they should have spoken to you about side effects. You should know this!
So please go to the leaflet it came with and read it through, to inform you of everything you need to know about the pill! :-D
The side effects usually dissapear completely by the 3rd or 4th cycle of pills.
It is ok to take iboprofen and paracetamol whilst on the pill, so don't worry about that.
I would see what the cramps do over the next month or so, Next time you see your doctor/clinic they will probably move you to a new pill if the cramps do not go away. They moved me to a new pill because of cramping once and it completely dissapeared.
