Thanks again to all of you. Words are just not enough to thank you for being there and for your support. The runs have slowed down a little and consist mostly of what seems to be the last bits trying to clean out of my gut. My gut has been rumbling like mini-explosions are going off! My husband was not able to find the probiotic that Archer recommended, and he looked for a while today. But he was able to find something called Ultimate Flora Supercritical 200 Billion;it's a 7-day super-program. I sort of wish he would have called me and asked because I probably would have said to get something with not as many billion. LOL I can't even wrap my mind around 200 billion! But I took it a little over an hour ago, and so far I'm not having any adverse effects. I did eat a few saltines with it since it suggested taking it with a small meal. A few crackers was all I could bring myself to eat. I just have no appetite at all. I am a little worried 200 billion will be too much for my sensitive gut system. I will keep you updated! I am already noticing less rumbling, so hopefully that's a good sign.
PITA - I had to laugh with your post. Yes, having the runs is wearing the c*** out of me!!! I am so tired. I have caught myself dozing off in the tub for about 5 minutes at a time I think. I have to lay on my side still, so my head and neck are at a weird angle. So after I doze, it's not long before my head starts to slip and I wake up. But it's some rest!
Soar - I haven't had a chance to talk to anyone yet about the diverticulosis. Seeing a nutritionist is a great idea! A nurse in the hospital who was getting me ready for surgery suggested I see an allergist when I feel better, due to the high number of allergies I've developed just over the past 5 years. So, both of those are things I will plan to talk to my primary doctor about. The surgeon did give me a handout after the colonoscopy about diverticulosis and diverticulitis and the differences between them. I have the "osis" for sure, but most of the time this may not cause someone any problems as long as they are healthy and eating plenty of fiber. The "itis" is more of an infection and is usually characterized by constipation, nausea, vomiting, pain in the lower left abdomen, fever, chills, etc. I thought I might have that in moments of exhausted delusion earlier, but I only have a few symptoms that probably had more to do with the imbalance of my entire GI system. I was remembering today that my mother has a very hard time tolerating medications and surgical procedures. When I was in high school, she almost died after having her gall bladder removed and was in the hospital for a long, long time due to reactions to meds, complications, etc. so I guess I inherit some of it from her maybe.
Archer, PITA, and Soar - You each brighten my day and make me laugh and smile with your humor. You are really helping me get through this very difficult, painful, trying time and I am most grateful. I hope that the kindness you give out is returned to you a thousandfold.

Well, I was able to sleep from 1:30 until 5:00 am. I don't know what woke me up, but I tried to go back to sleep and immediately had to run for the toilet. I have gone 3 times in the past hour and a half. All watery.
Archer, I appreciate your friend's advice. I plan to call the dr back this afternoon if things have not calmed down. I don't know what I'll do if they want to see me. I can't stay away from a toilet long enough! And after I go, I have to be able to get in a tub. It burns so bad!
I plan to ask my husband if he will get me some Gatorade, later when he wakes up. Poor guy. He is so great, and I feel bad having him run all over the place for me, especially on a holiday weekend! I know he'd rather see me get better, but I just feel bad. I can't eat bananas (allergic) and tomatoes and V8 upset my stomach on the best of days, but I can at least try the Gatorade.
I have been soaking a lot and I'm happy to keep doing it!
I hope this clears up soon. My butt is so sore and I know I'm exhausted. I am drinking tons and tons of water. But I know that I'm probably having a hard time replacing all of the fluids I'm losing and none of the minerals, etc. I did read that sometimes probiotics can cause their own GI symptoms, such as diarrhea while your body adjusts, especially to the high dose stuff.
The probiotic I have was $35. My husband said they had another one with an even higher number of billions in it, but it was $72!!! I'm glad he got the one he did. I guess if it can help my system, it will be worth it.

PS - I am not a doctor, obviously, but I am thinking that what may have happened is that I had a colonoscopy on the 11th - which totally wiped out my gut. Then 5 days later, surgery with anesthesia followed by all the meds. I'm thinking that my GI system didn't have time to recover from the colonoscopy before surgery and what follows, and that it is just totally messed up. So I am hoping that the probiotic and liquid diet will allow things to calm down and replenish the good stuff that needs to be there. I am not running a fever, I don't have aches and pains, so I don't think it's a virus. I could be wrong, but usually with a virus I feel bad all over. I do have some nausea, but not real bad, and no appetite at all. It's weird. If I think of my favorite foods, I can think of how good it would be to eat them. But when I try to eat even a little applesauce I can't eat more than a few bites before I just can't eat anymore (I was trying to eat a little something with the probiotic this morning).
I did wake up covered in sweat. I think that may be more related to how humid it is in the house. Unpleasant though.
On a positive note, Day 12!!!!! I am not even taking Tylenol now. I am having some pain, but I am trying to not put anything in my system that could possibly upset it. I did take one Tylenol around 9 pm last night. Rumbling got worse after and diarrhea picked up again, so who knows!

Archer and PITA, thank you for worrying about me. I got Gatorade at 10 this morning and throughout the day I've drank almost the whole 64 oz bottle. I have switched back to water for a little while just to change things up. The diarrhea continues, about once every hour or two. Not as often as before but still too often. Amazingly, my urine is clear, and I don't think I'm dehydrated. Very tired of having diarrhea for sure. I am going to give it until 8 am tomorrow morning which will be 48 hours since I talked to the surgeon and it's also when they open in the morning.
I just want to feel better.:-(

Well, it's almost 10 pm and I just cannot take it anymore. The diarrhea started up again about an hour ago and has been nonstop. I don't even know how there is anything left to come out! I finally just took one immodium to see if that helps. I will still call the surgeon in the morning or if it gets worse overnight. This is ridiculous.
