I am glad there are people out their who are wanting to stop this addiction! Its simple; throw them away!!! I had my arm torn from my body ten years ago. I was on pain killers for the first 6 months. It was during physical rehab that i started exercising getting fit living life again. One day i just threw them away. You can overcome anything you have to have the will to do it.

Thank you Strong! Due to both knee replacements this year, I have had extreme pain and have taken morphine for 2 years. Under my doctors' supervision, I have dropped from 60 mg to 30 mg for a month. Then he made a grid for tapering off and withdrawal. I went from 30 mg daily to 15 mg daily for a couple of weeks, then down to 10 mg for a few days, then down to 5 mg for a few days. The last couple of days, I was only taking 2.5 mg daily. This morning, I just decided to throw the reminder of pills out - I didn't want to prolong the misery of withdrawal. The first few days were horrible - like a bad flu - and I just laid on the couch and tried to distract myself with reading and tv. Lots of cramping, headaches, diarrea, etc. Didn't want to eat; I should have made fruit smoothies with protein powder to help my body.
But I am feeling better today and hope to improve during the next week!! I better or I'll be upset. Never again will I take morphine or any opiate unless I'm terminally ill with cancer or whatever illness. Good luck to everyone - you CAN do it and life will be sweet again!

Help! Plse see Staycalm - me - below. I'm now on day 5 after the last 2.5 mg pill of morphine. I have been weaning off since early Sept. My body hurts, some cramps, headache, bit of diarrhoea. How much longer until I feel better? My dr. says that because I was on it so long (2 yrs) it will take a few more days. Plse respond. Thanks!
