Actually.my doctor did prescribe this combo, and it hasn't affected me negatively at all...I prefer not to combine the two however just because flexeril makes me tired where tramadol give me energy...so I take tram in the day and flex at night....hope that gave you a little insight :)

My doctor has prescribed both of them to me for many years and I am 57 and never had a problem.

That is too bad and rare. Because I have been prescribed both for years and my doctor has never had a concern and I have at least 3 friends that are prescribed both with no problems. So you are not the norm. I don't know a single person who has ever had an issue with it. Our doctors would not have prescribed it if there was that much concern. It works perfectly for us together. Flexeril helps with the muscle spasms and ultram helps with the pain. Sounds like you are a bit jealous we have no problems and you do. Since your response to that combination does not work for you. Read the papers you get with it and if you are a person prone to seizures than don't take it.. I have been doing it for thirteen years and my health is fabulous for 57

I have fibromyalgia, and have been prescribed this combination for quite some time, with the stipulation that I not consume alcohol at the same time as taking these drugs. All medications come with side effects and risks and we should all be educated on those, either by talking with our doctors or pharmacists, or both. Getting reliable information on the internet is not the best way to find credible information, unfortunately.

Do Doctors prescribe them both together yes yes they do whether or not they warn you is entirely another thing.
So are they safe together? For the most part yes, but there are some problems for some people.
Quote from my Doctors Office: One more thing- Tramadol and Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) can cause something called serotonin syndrome, small risk but possible. Please call or seek emergent care if any of the following occur:
anxiety, agitated, restlessness, confusion, diaphoresis, tachycardia (rapid heartbeat), high fever, hypertension, vomiting, diarrhea, tremor, and muscle rigidity. End Quote.
This is the truth about what could possibly happen with them both I have had a problem with Tramadol and have been off of it for over 2 or 3 years. going back on it but will be quitting the Flexeril
TO the rest of you quit hating you are both right in some case there is a possibility of having a reaction but it is a small chance that you just need to watch out for.

I was prescribed this combo for my spinal stenosis and bulging lumbar disks for the pain and muscle spasms when they flare up. It seems to work great if I have an episode I take the combo and lay in bed for the day and by the next day I'm usually able to get around. If I don't take it I'm usually bed bound for days

I was wondering the same thing. Tonight I was hurting so bad from muscle tension in my back that I chose to take the combo. I only take very seldom as needed but have been prescribed them both for 13 yrs. I however donot drink alcohol...so now I'm wondering if I should stop taking them!? I'll just talk with my Dr. about it in a week at my upcoming appt.
