I have been on a back surgery. I had to do it because my spine has pressed some nerves. Anyway that is not the subject. After the surgery I had pains. They were mild but constant. I have taken Ultram/tramadol for a year. I have noticed that I am starting to be addicted to it. What can I use instead of Ultram/tramadol?

Tramadol is well known as very addictive medication. Maybe it is not the best choice on longer stages. I have been using it also and I had problems after getting of. I have managed to succeed in help of wellbutrin. Some people think that you may avoid addiction by controlling the pill intake and smaller doses but it is not my experience.

I have been taking it since 04 or 05 so 8-9 years. I haven't had any problems quitting. To be honest I've had the opposite problem. All of a sudden it started making me tired and taking away my motivation so I stopped taking it 3 months ago no problem. Now I am really suffering from nerve and joint pain. Maybe I got lucky, I'm not sure. Now I'm looking for something else that's non-narcotic to alleviate the pain. I was also told it was non habit forming so maybe it's partially a mental thing. I'm hoping to get a suggestion or two.
