Hello. I've been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I was on Synthroid for a few weeks and then I stopped using it. I went to Cytomel 25mcg twice a day preparing for my RAI, but week ago I started feeling very sick and nauseated. Nausea is so extreme I can't eat. Last day or two, I've been also very tired and have blurry vision. My doctor told me that there was nothing they could do and I should keep taking the Cytomel. He was honest telling me that it'll probably get worse until I stop using it for the RAI. I have searched for the Cytomel side effects and I couldn't find that people have this extreme nausea, dizzyness or blurred vision. What is your experience? Are dizzyness and nausea common side effects of Cytomel?

Hi. If you split the Cytomel into quarters and then take a quarter every 4 hours you may feel better. That was the trick that helped me. I was taking 20mcg in the morning and in the evening. I had nausea, I felt hungry all the time until I've split my dosage and started very small amounts throughout the day. I increased the dosage every 3 days and I was feeling better. You should definitely feel better by splitting dosage. 25mcg is a lot in one dose. I didn't have problems with other medications, but Cytomel had to be split into tiny bits spread throughout the day and evening. Be sure to take the last bit right before bed and it will greatly improve your sleep. It worked well for me that way. Good luck!
