Hi,
Okay, I'm 14, and I'm a very concerned person about what's going on in and outside of my body. Recently, just about a day or so, I developed this itch near my vagina and it begins to hurt when I scratch it too much. I also... it's kind of embarrassing to say, but I DO masturbate sometimes :$ ,and I have NEVER had intercourse with a person, so I highly doubt it's a STI or STD(But if it might be, how would it be caused if I didn't have contact with someone with an STI or STD?). I'm not sure what's wrong with me but some of my friends had told me that it might be ingrown hair or because I wore my swimsuit for too long. They also told me that it'll go away and that I'm being too paranoid, but I am still VERY concerned... if you know what I mean. Could somebody please tell me what it might be? :'(
Thank-you.

It has been a few days now since you posted about this; has the itching stoped at all? if not, will you go see a Dr. or some health care provider? like the planned parnet hood clinic? Have you tryed any over the counter meds for this in the lady's area of the drug store? wearing tight clothes with nylon fabric in it is mostly the problem, tight jeans w/ nylon panties, swimsuits, and alike clothes. If you think it is a ingrown hair, have a close girl friend take just a look around to discribe the area to you to talk to the Dr.
Now about masturbation, it will not cause this type of problem, it is more a blister or raw rubbing - like walking with out shoes on a hot summer surface.
It is normal and very good that you do masturbate, it takes away the sex drive & willingness to wish to have intercouse.
So if you go to the Dr. for the itch, while your in seeing the nurse, ask about birth control pills, at many early ages it can be given without parnets knowlege.
GOOD LUCK

Thank-you for the advice, but I'm not sure if I have enough courage to go see a doctor. I'm also scared that my parents will find out about it, and I really don't want that to happen. I'm also really embarrassed to approach anyone in the pharmacy to ask about any medication. The itching has stopped but ever since I began using a certain soap the problem came back. Could that be the reason?

OK YES bath & laundry soaps can have effect on you, some use a perfumes that you may have a reaction to, use laundry soap lightly, and if a bath soap you just found and have tried, use one that is not a scented one additions for odor.A mild one, try a oatmeal soap, they work great and have no artificial additives.
Now This is a practice to run on what you will be doing in the near future, asking, talking and tell medical people your medical problems.
At 14, you can make your own doctor appointments (in most cases) to see the doctor, and have HER tell you what is wrong, or pharmacy can help, they talk to a lot of people in one day, and most likely will not remember you in a few days afterwards. They are a big help to all of us. So get up a little nerve, no one will laugh at you for it, and take a girlfriend along with you if need be, to make sure you do what you set out to do. find a cure for your itching.
Relax, breath normally, and as drama class said, think of seeing everyone else in their underwear- or maybe not.
