When I was 12 years old I had hymenectomy surgery. There was a liter of blood that drained from my abdomen that had been building up in there. Before that, it was impossible to use a tampon. Now, I'm almost 18 and have some unanswered questions. About 3 years after the surgery I had a checkup and the OBGYN said no one would be able to tell that I had the surgery. But because I was still young I didn't get any information about sex. Will sex be normal for me? I'm still a virgin and while tampons fit, the feeling is too uncomfortable for me to deal with. If I have sex I figure it would hurt like any normal girl, but is there anything else I should be aware of?

Phia:  I am 18 and have a very small hymen opening but I didn't need the surgery so I didn't get it.  I still can't use tampons but that's OK.  But, I've done a lot of research on this subject and have chatted with some girls that have had the surgery.  You don't have anything to worry about it.  When you do have sex, you shouldn't have any problem.
