Okay, I've been having sex for over a year now and my hymen is still intact. Why is that? I use tampons and I don't masturbate that often. Is there any particular reason why this is happening?

I have, what I think is called, a septate hymen which basically means that there is a "thin hymenal membrane that has a band of extra tissue in the middle that causes two small vaginal openings instead one." A few times when I've used a tampon, the edge of the tampon has gotten stuck (? maybe that's not the right word) on the membrane and it's really awkward to play "fish for the tampon" when you're at school.
I'm just curious as to why it didn't break (or hasn't broken)? Does it just shift the side or something? o.O

Sometimes when a female is born, she is born with a Septate Hymen, just like you have described. This is an extra band of tissue which basically creates two small vaginal openings instead of one. And like your problem, it does create issues getting a tampon in or out.
The treatment is minor surgery to remove the extra band of tissue and create a normal vaginal opening.
This procedure is done on an out patient basis or possibly in the Doctors office, and is likely to be covered on your insurance.

I had sex for years and had no idea I had a 'double hymen. I even got pregnant and had a nurse tell me, "you have a hymen, how did you get pregnant?" I was totally confused. Nobody would explain what was wrong with my hooha. Like you though, tampons would get stuck and sex was sometimes a wiggle to 'get it in'. Sometimes it just hurt. I did miscarry and it wasn't until years later I found a dr who explained it and took care of it for me. The procedure was not pleasant. I had very thick tissue and it hurt. Not to mention after it smelled like something died between my legs. BUT, it was worth it. Once I was healed sex was better and I never again had issues with tampons.
