As pointed out above I am a virgin, not sexually active, at least not with anyone else, if you know what I mean. I have been spotting for almost a month now, from the 30th of August till now. I have spotted for longer duration of times and between periods before, but never for so long. It always happened when I was under much pressure or stress.
The spotting started when I was supposed to get my period. In the beginning I thought stress was the cause here as well, since I was about to take my university entry exams for which I had been studying for two years and was pushing myself to write high marks because otherway I wouldn't get into the school I wanted. I had been stressing like mad, sleeping 3-4 hours a night, not eating regulary, my hair was falling out more than usual... I was a mess. And that's why I didn't think it was not normal to be spotting. I had read that this could happen.
But now, a week and two days after the exams ended I am still spotting and am starting to worry. Sure, I am still under some stress, because the results are not out yet, but come on, is this normal? Yes, I have spotted before, but for three+ weeks?
My cylce usually lasts 5-6 days, most of the time I am spotting one day before the actual cycle and during my ovulation period.
Could this be something serious? I am afraid to go to the doctors, afraid of what he might tell me. If I go, can he tell my parents? I have turned 18 a few months ago. My parents are very conservative and I am afraid that something like masturbation could come up when talking to the doctor.

PS: When masturbating, without penetration, does this count as sexually active or not?

Stress can do the CRAZIEST things to your body. Including long periods of spotting.
