I am 17 and am going to enlist in the Marine Corps in about a year from now.
After looking around I recently found I have a hydrocele. I will be totally honest, I have been worried for a while but what can I do? Noone knows about it and there is no way my parents could afford any kind of medical procedures.
I honestly thought for a while there was something wrong with the other testicle, it was smaller and much more firm. I was afraid I had cancer or something.
I have had a hydrocele as long as I can possible remember, and recall as a child going to get a check up multiple times and the doctor mentioning "one is larger than the other"
I never really feel any pain or have discomfort, ONE time I was really sick and coughed alot and it got slightly bigger, but it has been consistent as far as I can remember. Other than that If I yell really loud without using my diaphragm it is slightly painful.
It is about the size of a gold ball. From what I read there is an opening, a canal, that it leads to that testicles can draw up into and is what they fall from. Most of the time my right testicle is just at the opening of that canal at the top of my scrotum, I really don't even know how big or firm it is...
What are the procedures for getting rid, removing, or fixing this?? I heard it costs about a grand, which I can definitely make. Are there other expenses I have to worry about? What would cause my Right testicle to not drop down, is it because the sac from the hydrocele is in the way?? How long is the surgery/downtime??
