Are you going for the aspiration or real surgery? You must be fed up with the hyderocele considering you had it for 8 years, so I suppose you are going for the surgery to get rid of it for good, right?
This means there is no reoccurrence like in needle aspiration!
Anyway, it is done under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. A doc takes scalpel and makes an incision in your scrotum. He repairs the tube between the abdominal cavity and the scrotum, from where the fluid came, and he takes out hydrocele sac, gets rid of the accumulated fluid and closes the scrotum with sutures.
When the surgery is finished, you will be taken to the recovery room because of the anesthesia and to check for any bleedings, check your blood pressure and temperature and then they will let you go. You will have to come again in a few weeks time to see if it’s healing and check for possible infections.
You will still have the swelling for some time after the surgery, but it will subside eventually.
You will have to lie still for about 7-10 days but have no extra activities including sexual for about 6 weeks.
As for the erectile dysfunction……well, hydroceles are hardly ever a reason of erectile dysfunction…….maybe psychological……if it was bothering you and you were unable to do things because of that….then it would go away. If the hydrocele was not a primary cause of your problems, it is highly unlikely it will be fixed with it!

My husband just had a hydrocelectomy. He had a second operation to remove the hematoma that developed after the hydrocelectomy.

He's out of the hospital already and it's been seven days since the second operation. Two days ago, the doctor have removed the drain (for the blood) from his scrotum.

My question is, will the cut where the drain used to be, heal? For how long?

Thanks

It would appear that the scrotum will absorb any future liquid. And with time, the hematoma is absorbed or lessened. Ask your doctor and report back here please. We would like to know also.

I live in India and in May I undrwent a surgery for bilateral hydrocele. The total cost came to around Rs 15,000(roughly 500 US dollars) which included tests on biopsy and other tests to rule out any serious diseases .

Hydroceles are NOT caused by masterbation.

It is a function of how the vein in the left side of the scrotum returns blood to the major vein.

Due to the connection of the vein, in some men, the blood pools and backs up, enlarging the feeder vein.

This is NOT due to masturbation. So stop worrying about that.

Only in cases where fertility has been comprimised or is an issue do we worry about corrective surgery.

Some men complain of pain with one, and that's another issue.

But the majority of men with a hydrocele do not get them treated.  They live life just fine.

Hi, good info. You said no sex for six weeks. Including masturbation? I had the Surgery three weeks ago. Should I at least be able to achieve erections like before? Seems increasingly difficult.
I am diabetic with pretty bad ED. But can usually achieve and orgasm. So this is about the current difficulty achieving erections like before the Surgery.
