Lately my testicles feel like there is a thin layer of fluid between my finger and the actual testicle, like its in some sort of membrane. I researched this and found out it could be hydrocele, but usually the buildup is much, much more than what i have.

The building feels like its maybe a little under a half a centimeter, and im posting because im wondering if a thin layer of fluid is normal for some protective reason.

No pain, i can only feel it with 2 fingers side by side pushing down alternating fingers, like on a water balloon, when you push one side the other side feels tighter because of the water. It feels like that but on a much smaller scale.

I read its harmless and the most it can do is cause discomfort.

Hey bro, I don't even know if you will get this at all since your original post was written, literally, four and a half years ago!In regards to your "hydrocele" guesstimate from a self-examination, I can say to you as I have a hydrocele realistically and it is its second coming (no pun intended) since the first time it had arrived during childbirth until I was around 10 or so months old, under a year.  That's how long it takes usually to disappear.  If over a year, you must consult a doctor/urologist BUT actually, I would consult a doctor right away once you self-examine yourself, even if you may think it is not some big deal because trust me, man, I know how weird us guys are about other guys touching our stuff and even sharing this info with our parents and/or spouses but honestly, everyone who suffers from something, regardless of if it is an addiction or a health problem -- sharing is the best way to receive healing!

As far as your situation: I do not know what you read about hydrocele that said it can form on the outside as some sort of external membrane!  I honestly don't understand that, esp. being that it is just under a 1/2cm.  Maybe I'm wrong but I'm 30 with a large, hardened right hydrocele and sharp pains and obvious noticeability and discomfort; as well as, starting 3 days ago on my 32nd day of having the hydrocele, I started feeling what I now believe is SI Joint pain (Sacroiliac Joint - between the hip and pelvic region, Wikipedia it if you'd like).

So, even though you obviously have received help and/or it simply went away and possibly wasn't even a hydrocele in the first place, I am still writing this for anyone who comes across this post and agrees with you about the external membrane being a hydrocele.  I can tell you that it is not a hydrocele, a hydrocele is a fluid filled "sac" that forms around the testicle but INSIDE the scrotal walls (skin) and also extends out through an opening of the stomach into scrotum which is located in the mid-region above your hip and privates, example.  If you were to draw a "triangle" with the bottom line starting point (B)----at penis-----and line----(C)----at----hip------then the top point of line (A) would be the exact location of the stomach entrance into the scrotum. Also, don't just assume any of this from a self-examination -- always resort to a doctor just to be safe and sure, esp. when it has to do with your precious jewels men!  But that opening can also be a hernia, I have recently learned that a hernia is when the intestines (small or large, not sure??? I think small but look it up anyway) pushes through that opening into scrotum thus causing a hernia, and all of the pain that comes with it.

What I desire to do instead of waiting an entire year because it's fairly big, like 3-5 times the size of my other testicle (like the size of a large egg is normal and my "right" testicle hydrocele is the size of, let's say, a peach? lol - yeah, very uncomfortable).  Because I do not want surgery and I am not a baby who can just lay around and "wait it out" since it gets in the way of life, I heard about aspiring it which means the doctor numbs a part of your testicle and injects a needle into the hydrocele, thus, popping it and slowly removes the fluid from your testicle.  Ahhhhhh!!!  Just the sound of that feels so relieving but surely, I believe there may be pain--I don't know.  I rather deal with THAT then keep this hanging around and giving me irritation, bro!  I heard it could return, not sure how long after but even if it kept returning, eventually it stops or they will place a sclerosing agent into the area where it enters your scrotum, closing it up so you will no longer receive fluid inside.  But, that can also possibly mess with fertility and arousal, so I've read.

I have hydrocele in my right testicle, but I am comfortable with this, because it's small in size. Can I go to gym?
