I have osteoarthritis - both knees, hands, and top of feet - so why did I receive a cortisone shot in my buttocks - not in the affected joint? Will it work???

Are you sure it was Cortisone? Synthetic cortisone is not usually introduced directly to the blood stream because it acts differently than the natural Cortisone. I'm not sure it will do anything for you being injected in the buttocks.

Shoot...tooo.. many replys that so not know the truth of the matter.. The shot in the butocks give a "whole body" injection (is diffenent steriod than just corizone for a joint only shot. The buttock shots are better in my opinion as I get shoulder shots and butock shot for psyrooisis (sp) but now my Dr. sees alll the sewlling in knees shoulders, feet, and just as if my Psyrooisis is acting up, so that allows the whole body shot and not just a shoulder joint.
