I started taking Mobic 15 mg daily for arthritis pain in my neck and hands. After just a few days of use, my pain was greatly reduced like never before. One problem, I'm gaining a pound a day! I've always been slim at 113 pounds, but after 6 days on Mobic, I now weigh 120! Will this level off? This fast weight gain can't be good for me. I literally can't zipper my jeans that I've worn for many, many years. Anyone have similar issues? Did the weight gain stop?

I'm replying to my own post above. After posting the weight-gain issue, I found this on-line:
Rapid Weight Gain With Mobic
One very important point to keep in mind is that all NSAIDs, including Mobic, may cause congestive heart failure. One of the main symptoms of heart failure is unexplained weight gain. In fact, people with symptoms of congestive heart failure can often have rapid weight gain over a couple of days. This weight gain is often combined with other symptoms such as a cough and/or swelling in the ankles, feet, or legs. Make sure to contact your healthcare provider if you notice unexplained weight gain or swelling while taking Mobic.
I just left a message for my doctor!!

I was recently prescribed 15mg Meloxicam once a day for rotator cuff pain in my shoulder. After 4 days of taking it I experienced very bad side effects. It started with me being anxious, shaky, shortness of breath, dizzy, then sensitivity to light, dripping sweat to freeeezing cold, my body was trembling, it caused me to have a panic attack, I turned grey...I almost went to the hospital, but with family around they helped me calm down and hot tea warmed my body. For the next few days I was crying multiple times a day, sweating at night, horrible horrible headaches, anxiousness, dizziness. My mom and I had both made phone calls to my doctor's office on two different days and the nurse seemed like she didn't believe me or thought maybe I had the flu, which I definitely do not have the flu just horrible side effects from this medication. It's been 8 days since I stopped taking this medicine. I'm starting to feel like myself a lot more. I'm still having night sweats, anxiety, shakiness, and still feeling like crying. I feel like it's been so long since I've felt normal and like myself! I can't believe after 8 days of stopping it I'm still feeling side effects. I hope I will be back to myself within the next few days. I will definitely read side effects and be cautious before starting any medication. Also, why has it taken days of searching online to find people who have had bad side effects to this medicine...it seems like I only come across blogs where people say it's a great medication?!!?

I have been taking Mobic for 2 yrs now and my dr. wants me to wean away from it also. But it has helped my stiffness and pain ALOT and I have gained weight from it but I would rather gain a few pounds then suffer with the stiffness and pain I had been going thru. But what I don't understand is why do I need to stop it for 5 days before an epidural procedure.

Yes, I feel the same way. I have taken it 6 weeks for arthritis. I stopped taking it b/c I was getting heartburn and mouth sores. But today I feel very strange: "like I'm in a fog." Thanks.

I have been taking 15 mg of Mobic for 16 years. It has been very effective in helping me w/ my arthritis. My new doc said I should get off of it b/c of its possible damage to organs. I've only taken a half dosage for the last 4 days with no side effects; will take half of half for several days and then quit. Never a problem with weight gain.

As of now no health insurance. Today I had to decrease 15 mg to 7.5 mg. and tomorrow another 7.5 mg, then I am out of pills. I have been taking this for over a year now for Rhuematoid Arthritis. I feel sick today..really dizzy and so tired. I also feel bad pain in my back again that is making me feel sick to my stomach. Is there anything I can take to help with all this? Anyone know of a herbal product that can help?
Thanks!

I was on Mobic 15mg for two months, did absolutely nothing for my arthitis and neuropathy pains, decided that I would go off of it and take the occasional ibuprofen for headaches. I feel like I have a low grade fever, woke with a horrible headache this morning and I can't keep my eyes open after nine hours of sleep.

I just realized that I had not taken my Mobic since the 3 of August. Been madder than a wet hen at every thing, I put it off to the sudden death of one of my Great Pyreneese dogs. (started back on my Mobic yesterday after realizing that I had not taken on in a while because hands started hurting while milking. Today I am feeling better, not so irritable. Still weepy but that will pass in time.
