I've unfortunately run out of my meloxicam. I'm also feeling symptoms of withdrawl. I've been on a whole lot of medications in my lifetime, and I'm VERY familiar with withdrawal symptoms. I'm looking forward to getting my prescription refilled, it's the best med I've found for my arthritis/chronic pain in years!! But I was surprised at this side effect?

I haven't had any problems with weight on meloxicam? (Mobic?) It's absolutely the best drug I've found for my chronic pain/Arthritis. Good luck dropping those few pounds, and I'm SO GLAD you're doing better! ♡♡♡

Glad to see this here. I stopped mobic cold turkey yesterday because it is causing weight gain and indigestion. Today I've had two (minor) anxiety attacks and feeling weepy. It was the ONLY thing I was taking and nothing else has changed so I went to google to see if there were withdrawals. There are for me!!

This does not mean that you are addicted to Mobic. After a while your body will develop a chemical dependency for it and it will take some time to get used to it not being there. Just keep track of your symptoms and discuss them with your doctor. Other than that you should be fine.

No!!! I injured my knew and didn't realize that it was the mobic that was causing me to gain weight until I gained 50 pounds in 6 months. I'm furious about It because it is compounding my knew pain and worse yet, I can't fit in any of my clothes. It will take me a year of extensive work outs and dieting to lose this weight.

If you have weight issues the weight gain will negatively affect the arthritis. I wish I had realized earlier why I was gaining so much weight.

I've been taking Mobic only when needed for a number of years. Though it always completely stops the bad aching all over, my BP invariably goes way up, and I get insatiably hungry - thus it's helped me gain all this weight and develop major heartburn at night after eating ravenously - for which baking soda in water does wonders but causes a colossal belch or two. And if I don't take Mobic the next day, I become very depressed and fatigued - I could even say it's a dark feeling of despair and hopelessness - regardless of my actual circumstances. I avoid taking it for too many days in a row because of the hypertension and hunger it causes, and the fact it makes the deep depression and fatigue in withdrawal last longer, too! This is all very predictable now after years of dealing with this good news/bad news drug - so cheap and so effective...BUT.... Now it's always my "last resort" pain medication, and it always stops my worst aching - but at such a physical price afterwards.

I've been taking meloxicam for a little over a month for a neck issue. The doctor said I could stop taking it if I felt better so I did and now I'm experiencing anxiety after not taking it for 3 days. The last 2 days I was fine but today i'm feeling anxious and i can tell my heart rate is elevated. How do you get past this? :(

To cope with meloxicam w/d, my doctor prescribed a limited supply of xanax (alprazolam) and atenolol. Just a small amount of xanax (0.5 mg) really helps relieve the anxiety (but can make you very sleepy at first) and just a little atenolol (half of a tiny 25mg tablet) brings my heart rate down to something more normal within a couple of hours, as well as add to the anxiety relief. These two make meloxicam w/d a lot more bearable. Be careful not to continue the xanax for very long because it can become pretty addictive if taken regularly for several days. I take xanax only PRN, as needed for the anxiety and try not to get into routine doses.

I am experiencing this now. I've been on Mobic for 2 weeks and I am taking myself off this drug. I thought my scale was broken.

There is no doubt that there are withdrawal symptoms to meloxicam (Mobic). I have a chronic illness, and have been on and off meds for years. I have gone through withdrawal before. When I had to stop my meloxicam last week due to GI symptoms, I ended up with symptoms mimicking withdrawal symptoms that I'd been diagnosed with in the past. I started having the symptoms within days of stopping the medication. I realized that had been the only change in my regime, so, it has to be withdrawal from meloxicam. When you think about it, if you're on an anti-inflammatory for a long period of time, it is suppressing any sort of swelling. This occurs by the medication altering your hormone reaction to inflammation. Since hormones are also involved, no wonder we all feel terrible! But, any swelling we are prone to must immediately come back. Since our bodies aren't used to it, especially over the course of weeks, months, or years, we must learn how to adjust to dealing with it again. Doctors need to become aware of our suffering when coming off of this medication! I finally broke down and started it again today. I'm going to wean off of it this time.

I was given meloxicam 15g because my knee is still swollen 4 months after surgery. I felt like I had the flu. Everyone thought I was nuts. By 4pm I was useless. My skin was sensitive and I was borderline nauseous. I only stayed on the medication 10 days. Once I was off the medication the flu feeling went away but now feeling joint pain.

I had the same experience. Get off this medication it's horrible. Figure out another way to deal with the inflammation. Feeling exhausted like you have the flu all the time is terrible
