I've been on Mobic for 3 years and have recently went off of it and I have no side effects at all other than I'm not as tired as was when I was on it and that's a good thing.

I can't answer your question - but am having the same problem! I've been on Mobic for about a month now - and it works great at relieving pain, but I'm putting on weight literally every day (while cutting calories more and more, which I didn't need to do). Frustrating.

Same for me! I stopped taking it when my plantar fasciitis cleared up after about 4 months. I stopped it abruptly and boy or boy - my head started exploding with sudden severe headaches causing nausea and vomiting. It was so bad, I went to the ER and they did a CT on me. Later, I came to realize it must have been withdrawal headaches.

I have been wondering why I have been putting weight on while reducing my calorie intake since being prescribed Mobic for back pain. It definitely helps with the pain level, but my weight is increasing. Last night I woke with a fast thready heart beat also. Maybe its time to find some other way of dealing with the pain.

Sounds like the withdrawal I had when I forgot to put my Paxil in
my pill box for a week.

Withdrawal Symptoms after stopping   Mobic (meloxicam)  ??

I joined this site after reading the accounts of the symptoms after stopping Mobic (Meloxicam).  I started 15 mg about a year and a half ago for trochanteric bursitis and reduced it to 7.5 mg about a year later and continued it to last week.  My BP has been creeping steadily upwards and my clotting factor is being affected becuase when I cut myself I bleed forever.  So 5 days ago I thought I'd stop -  WELL- I was OK for about 3 days, then I started having sharp pains in my shoulders, headache, felt like I was moving thru molasses in a fog and I really couldn't function very well because by the 4th day every bone in my body hurt, even my skin hurt and I had chills and my muscles felt like they wanted to cramp.. I usually sleep 8 hrs and night before last I was in bed for 16 hrs. Today I am much better after taking V8 juice, magnesium oxide, calcium carbonate and an egg on toast.  I have no idea when I'll be totally back to my self- but I'll report back here when I do.  The good news is that my BP dropped right back to normal within 2 days. And I lost 3 lbs ( must be fluid retention?).  SO - I have not read in the medical literature that there are withdrawl symptoms from meloxicam, but I think I am experiencing JUST that.

I am having headaches and I absolutely never have headaches, so I was trying to remember what has changed, nothing has changed except I ran out of my Meloxicam.

Here's my update 14 days after stopping Mobic. After talking to my Dr. and Pharmacist, it appears I probably experienced a "rebound" effect stopping Mobic. Even though you're supposed to be able to stop cold turkey- I had been on it for over a year. After my body pain was better- I havd a lingering low grade headache for several days - not after 2 weels. I seem to be OK.

So glad I found this thread. I've experienced many symptoms described on this thread.

My story. I have osteoarthritis pain in my hip and had heard that mobic was good for taking the edge off pain. I was prescribed 15mg tabs. First first dose I noticed a decrease in pain and after second & third doses pain levels decreased considerably. After a week I noticed weight gain and edema in my lower legs also sweated often for no reason. I felt noxious and irritable. So, I chose to stop taking the medication after 2 weeks. The day after I stopped cold turkey, I felt terrible. Was in a total fog all day. Depressed, angry, just generally bothered. Went to bed, couldn't sleep, tossed & turned all night. The following day much improvement that night good sleep but awful night sweat. Following days I was back to feeling normal.

I will never start this medication again. From my experince, the side effects far outweight the benefits. No way mobid/meloxicam is safe to take over long periods of time. Beware before starting these meds.

I'm the original poster - here's an update after 5 weeks off Meloxicam: I really think it took a month for the drug to completely wash out of my system. After the all over body pain, I had a persistent head ache that was a medium to low grade head ache. Thankfully that's gone also. I think I was on it way too long ( about a year and a half ). The other side effect I had ( reduced clotting, so I bled too long after a slight cut ) is also gone. I've done some reading on the "rebound" effect of some drugs, and I guess this is what I experienced. So glad this thread is informative to others. This does happen!!!
