I didn't realize this may be what has been causing my yeast infections. I'm going to stop these pills immediately and switch to something else. I've been using so many creams and pills and NOTHING HELPS!!!! I can't live like this...it's so uncomfortable!!!!

I am so glad I am not crazy. I started taking yaz a month and a half ago. After starting it I got an awful yeast infection and took 3 oral meds and one over the counter to get rid of it. Then the week of sugar pills I was fine but three days or so into the new pack I got another one! I thought it was pill and my dr said it was unlikely, but I have never had a problem and it all started when I started the pill. I am gonna try something else now!! Thanks for the advice!!

I have been taking yaz since april of 2008. I have had yeast infections in the past but since july of 2008 i have had a yeast infection that doesn't seem to go away. it is now jan. 09. I have taken several diflucan pills....countless actually...done over the counter monistat ovules and also prescription gynazole. my doc just recently prescribed me a once weekly supply for 6 months of diflucan and it is not helping. (besides....diflucan has liver side effects...not meant to be used long term) I have seen 2 different docs and all say it has nothing to do with Yaz. I am switching back to Balziva (ovcon) this week and am hoping to see a change. i also triple up on acidophilous daily! I will post my results in another month or so.....really frustrating!! also....does anyone else seem to notice the fact that there are 3 extra pills in a pack!! hmmmmmm......slower hormone release may have something to do with it???????

Wow, I too actually don't feel as crazy anymore. I have been on and off birth control for several years and been on a about 4 or 5 different kinds....trying to find the one that suited me. I have never, ever, ever had a Yeast Infection until about 2wks after starting YAZ. I didn't know I had it until I went in for an appt and they told me. I tried to treat it, but it never seemed to go away. I finally found an old pack of pills I used to take ( i know...it's terrible and you shouldn't, but I thought I would give it a try. My infection seemed to go away. I called my Ob/Gyn about the whole mess, they told me that no way could YAZ do that and insisted that I go back on it. I stated YAZ again one week ago...and it started again. But, at least I know Im not the only one who has been going through this craziness.

I've never been on Yaz. I was on Ortho-tricyclin a couple years ago and when I STOPPED taking it is when I got yeast infections. I got one every month for a whole year! It was terrible. I had Mirena put in after my son was born and removed it a month ago... and now I have a yeast infection. I'm hoping this doesn't start the same pattern as when I stopped taking the pill. I've sworn off b/c. Our bodies weren't made for that. I'm just gonna get my kids done and then my hubby is getting fixed!

Thank God I found this site. I stopped taking YAZ this month after running out of my supply and have the worst yeast infection possible. I don't get yeast infections. I have had about 2 in my adult life until Yaz.

This is very interesting that I've found this thread... I've had over 30 yeast infections in the past two years, and I never had a yeast infection until I started taking Yaz... I have been trying to figure out exactly where and why they keep coming back, although I have not been on Yaz in at least a year and a half, but there are no other causes... I don't have Diabetes, no blood work has come back stating I'm HIV positive and I shouldn't be in the first place, so this thread is extremely interesting and I will do further research on this and go to my gyn to ask her about this correlation... I thought something was wrong with me all along... smh Yaz is the worst birth control out there

Right when I started taking Yaz two weeks ago, I got a yeast infection. I'm going to my doc to switch to Seasonique. Anyone had problems with Seasonique?

Thanks.

Oh my god. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've never had a yeast infection before Yaz, and right now I'm suffering through my third one! I wish I didn't pre-order three months worth of Yaz, because now I really want to find myself a different pill. There's no way all of these cases are coincidental. I wish the doctors would see this thread!

I was prescribed Yaz by my dermatologist to clear up my acne. It did the trick, but ever since, I have had chronic yeast infections, at least one every other month, and this has been going on ever since I started taking Yaz. It is quite expensive to treat an infection over-the-counter. I have been taking probiotics, but those have been quite costly as well. In addition to the chronic infections, my libido was significantly decreased, so much so that my boyfriend of 5 years and I went through a year of near-abstinence; the times that we did have intercourse were extremely painful. When I voiced these concerns to my dermatologist over a year ago, he simply said that he would prescribe antibiotics that I could take on a weekly basis to counter the infections, and he had no suggestion whatsoever for the decreased libido. I asked him about switching pills, and his response was that Yaz was the only pill proven to clear up acne. Fed up, I stopped seeing him. I asked my gynecologist for help, and she switched my pill to Loestrin. After a year, my libido has returned, and my skin has remained clear, but the yeast infections persist. My fear is that Yaz has done permanent damage. It is unfortunate that this type of side-effect is not taken in a serious light. Yeast infections and UTIs are extremely painful and difficult to cure if they are recurring. I'm not a doctor and I cannot pinpoint exactly what has caused these problems, and I'm not saying that Yaz is the singular culprit, but something is linked, and I don't think it's too much to ask that the people who create drugs for women should be taking women's health more seriously.

I am so happy that I have found this forum! It makes me feel like I'm not the only one dealing with this issue. Last year I switched from Ortho Tri Nessa to Yaz under the impression from the commercials that it would help with my bloating, irritability, and cramps (the biggest mistake of my life). Two months after switching, I got a really bad yeast infection that took three weeks to cure. I began to get more and more yeast infections that became harder and harder to cure. Now I have had a yeast infection since August and my OB/GYN, who is a specialist, cannot seem to figure out how to cure it. I'm going on almost five months with a yeast infection and it is driving me crazy! She finally admitted that it might be due to the birth control Yaz and she has taken me off of it. Even the boric acid suppositories will not work :-(

I am a very healthy female in my early twenties. None of the creams, pills, or compound medications, or changes in diet have cured my yeast infection. I've been on birth control for almost 9 years and after switching to Yaz, the yeast infections became very frequent and intense. That's not normal. I've heard of the lawsuits against Yaz and I think our side effect is one that needs to be investigated!
