A few years a go I was taking Effexor and I had side effects while taking them so I only took them for about 9 months. I am now taking Sertraline and the side effects are tolerable I have been on them for about 2 years now and trying to get off them the withdrawal is nothing like withdrawing from effexor . Wouldn’t have wished that on my worst enemy. So withdrawing from anti-depressants isn’t new to me. Now I get dry mouth, I feel as though my head wants to explode, Mood swings I can get into an argument with any one over the smallest things, my intermediate vision is terrible, I have irritable bowel syndrome, Dehydration, I started on 100 mg a day and now down to 50mg every 36 hours. In the last 2 weeks I have started taking

Isotonix® B-Complex

Isotonix OPC-3

And I it has helped in reliving most of the symptoms.

Good luck to all of you withdrawing I know how you feel.

I feel for you, I have been on Sertraline for 4yrs 200.mg per day, but about a month or so ago, I started having bad nightmares, dry mouth, heartburn, indigestion, zaping through my head, and i also have irritable bowel syndrom.

It was as if I was withdrawing, and began to wonder if I was being given placebos? I told my gp that I want to go off them and yesterday I took 100mg he wants to see me in 2months for a review.

I feel ok at the moment, but I don't really know what to expect.

I'm glad I found this. I have been on Sertraline (Zoloft) for 6 months .50mg.  Shitty time in my life.  Well, things got better and I never wanted to be dependant on an antidepressant long-term anyway, and I don't have insurance and really can't afford it; so I decided to go off of it.

I started halfing the dose for a ,then did 1/2 dose every other day for another week (and my pills ran out).  It has been 9 days of cold turkey and I am having horrible side effects.  I too have SEVERE dizziness! And flu-like symptoms.  Driving is scary, and taking 6 classes in college is becoming impossible to keep up with. I feel like I have vertigo.

I can't focus, because most of the time I'm trying to curb nausea and dizziness...  Don't know what to do to help get through these discomforts :/  I'm missing classes and getting behind in work because I feel so sick. :(

I have been taking 100mg Zoloft (Sertraline) everyday for the past 17 years for anxiety/panic disorder due to job stress I developed during my career law enforcement. I stopped taking the meds cold turkey two weeks ago. In the beginning, like most from what I've read, I began getting brain "zaps" and a lightheaded feeling constantly. I also experienced weird dreams and had trouble sleeping. I tried two Benadryl tabs in the morning and two at night. They seemed to help a little with the brain zaps, but who knows, may have been psychological. Here's the real deal. The physical withdrawal symptoms WILL subside and eventually COMPLETELY go away...if you let them. I assume that like me, you take the meds for some sort of mental disorder, so we are susceptible to making ourselves believe things (symptoms) that may not really even exist, or over exaggerate them. YOU HAVE TO KEEP TELLING YOURSELF THAT THE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS WILL GO AWAY...BECAUSE THEY WILL. Beat that into your brain, because if you don't, you will be consumed. In my case, with the exception of an occasional brain zap or feeling of lightheadedness, I feel great...better than I have in many years. I saw my doctor the other day and he said doing it cold turkey is fine unless the psychological dependence takes a toll. If you suffer from severe depression though, be careful. Meds are necessary to level off certain brain chemicals to normalize you. Drink lots of fluids and control your breathing. Watch uplifting programs and try to remove yourself from stressful situations if possible. You'll be fine...just keep telling yourself that...***ALL*** THE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS ARE TEMPORARY...THEY WILL GO AWAY.

I've Zoloft/Sertraline 50mg for 9yrs. For the last year I began to miss doses a few days at a time then a week at a time.  I now am experiencing fatigue, sweating, and creepy-crawly feelings in my scalp!  I am wondering if this could lead to lasting brain problems?

I am a 38 year old man who has been on 50mg of Zoloft for about 6 years. I am in the final stages of weening off of it. I had so many sexual side effects, and it made me very sleepy. I also found that it stopped my panic attacks, but increased my anxiety. I have switched to Wellbutrin. I tapered down and took 12.5 for 3 weeks, every other day during the last week. I have now quit taking it altogether. The withdrawal symptoms are tolerable, but annoying. It is hard for me to focus. The brain zaps are the worst part. I have also developed some bowel issues, mainly constipation. From what I have read, none of this is any permanent, you just have to put up with it for a few weeks.

I am just starting to wean myself off zoloft and I intend to order the Orenda Immune hoping it will help.
I have tried to stop taking Zoloft once before and I was a total witch! I'll let you know if it works. God willing it will.

I started taking Zoloft 5-6 yrs ago. After about a yr on it, I finally felt like a normal human being...my definition of normal is no longer feeling down, irritable, sad, over-thinking things, being constantly tired, wanting to live in isolation....it was very rewarding and eye opening to realize that life isn't as bad as I thought. All those yrs, I was walking around wondering if life was really worth it if I was this miserable and sad all the time. I'm certain, if I continued down that road I would have wanted to end my life. Now, I'm feeling great...I'm so thankful for this medication that basically helped me restore my life, my relationships, my health....I have a thriving social life, career and no longer need Zoloft. It was beginning to do me no good actually making me worse, I would be at work and fall asleep constantly..in meetings, talking to ppl...anywhere and everywhere I'd fall asleep no matter how much rest I got so I started to test not taking the medication to see how I would feel. When I didn't take it, I'd feel more awake, more energy, and could focus for a longer period of time. It was so strange and counter intuitive to what I was experience before. I'm convinced Zoloft is no longer doing anything for me so after doing some research and hearing the same thing from many ppl, i decided to stop the medication otherwise I knew my job would be at risk. I went off of it abruptly (my mistake) and now I believe I am experiencing severe withdrawal but with the onset of alcohol and stress. I'm still fine, able to carry on my days but i have horrible headaches, stomach flu-like symptoms, and after eating - i feel like vomiting. I also notice some digestive issues - I may be producing too much or too little stomach acid b/c my breath stinks in the morning and after a long day....idk what to do. I'm tired of going to see the dr and don't have the money to constantly rack up bills so until then, I'm flying solo for now trying to figure out what's going on. I also don't think it's necessary to run to a dr. constantly for everything, does nothing good for insurance premiums...i just need to relax, sit back and figure things out over time. I'm being patient and dealing with it day by day while in a lot of pain. :(

Like you, I have been on Zoloft 100mg for 18 years now. I tried to quit a few times before but couldn't stand the withdrawal symptoms. Now I started to clench my teeth and have headache so I decide to start the weaning off of the drug. I will see my doctor tomorrow to talk about weaning off this drug. How are you now?? Hope to hear from you so that I can see some light at the end of the tunnel. Lauren

I have been taking 125 mg of Zoloft for the past year and a half. Last night, I abruptly stopped taking them, and refuse to take them again. Will anything happen? Will I be okay?
