I missed Thurs., Friday, Saturday at the end of the 3rd week of my Gianvi pill pack. I have been on the pill about 4 years now. I followed Gianvi instructions ~ since I didn't realize the mistake til Sunday (today), I threw out the old pack and started a new one today. My husband and I had sex last night (Saturday). I started bleeding this morning (Sunday). I'm 35, have two kids and my husband and I do not wish to have anymore children.
I do not usually get periods at all ~ that is I do not bleed, just experience symptoms of getting my period. i.e. tired, backache, crabby, etc. This has been like this for at least a year or two I would say. My OB claims it is simply because my system is very balanced on the pill.
I am an excellent pill user and NEVER miss. I always take it at bedtime, religiously. Mistake was due to unusual and extenuating circumstances. Given the major side effects of the morning after pill, I am reluctant to take it unless I have to.
Any advice?
Thanks.

I've also been experiencing breakthrough bleeding, so I've done a lot a research recently about the pill. Everything I've read claims that pregnancy is unlikely even if you have missed pills due to the fact that your body did not release an egg. However, I have read that your risks are greater for pill failure if you miss at the end or beginning of a the pack. If you don't want to risk pregnancy I would say go ahead and use the morning after.
