a smelly discharge right after leep procedure

I had a LEEP three weeks ago. I was doing really well the first week but the second week I was bleeding really hard and had to go back in to get cortirised. She also removed a large clot. Less than a week after that I noticed a foul smelling discharge along with bad cramping and lower back pain. So back in for another check and was told I had a bad bacterial infection and so am now on antibiotics for 7 days and have to go back again next week. It has been a miserable last few weeks and I sure hope that this will be the last complication. I am post menopausal and also have HPV so even though she was able to cut out the questionable cells I will still have that unless I have a hysterectomy...ughh.

I had a leap procedure a week and a half ago. The discharge you are describing is what I experienced along with the coffee grounds looking stuff. Sometimes the color tights on a gray or black tint as well. My doctor told me this was completely normal and it could last anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks. Do not put anything inside your vagina and abstain from having sex until your doctor releases you. My doctor scheduled me for a follow up. I have a follow up visit at two weeks to make sure everything is going OK. The clear liquid does flow similar to a period but at least for me mine has not been heavy. Hope this helps

So glad there is a place to read and post experiences on these health matters. Thank you ladies for sharing. I had CIN3 LEEP surgery done last week. It has been now almost 5 days and I have seen (and smelled) it all. The first two days I really had nothing and foolishly thought I was "special". haha. But then it all came. I am only on day 5 post LEEP and I have had the coffee grounds (seem to be gone now though), light pink spotting (also almost gone), clear, thin, urine-like discharge is what I am experiencing most now. And the smell is horrific. I was so disgusted I ended up here on this forum to see if it was normal. So now I am wearing thick pads because there is no telling when or what will be coming my way. Sometimes I am just sitting and a bunch of stuff comes out- I have no control over it. The other morning I stood up and a water like substance tinged brown, went running down my leg. I didn't even know it came out, just saw stuff trailing down. So the phase I am in right now just seems to be constant flow of something, really bad smells, and when I wipe never knowing what I will see. I have no cramping, no discomfort at all, I would never even know I had a surgery done. But I can totally relate to the woman who posted about being self-conscious about the smell when I am out. I feel like everyone can smell it, even though my husband says he doesn't notice anything at all when he is right next to me and very close.
My procedure was done as outpatient at the hospital under anesthesia. I am 37 years old and hoping to get the clear soon to TTC #2. I have to put in my 2 cents here about the whole having sex before the doctor clears thing... any man that can't wait is not worth being with at all. Why risk your health? This is why we are all here to begin with. He needs to man up, and ladies, we gotta be mature enough to listen to professional advice. I have a 2 week check up scheduled, which will be next Wednesday (23 March) and I will update and post again. I had my leep done on the 26th of April I didn't have any bleeding or cramps I had a lil coffee ground appear just yesterday and today I have what seem like tissue really big chucks of tissues come out of me when I use the restroom now I have this dark brown yellowish discharge an it smells terrible I to called my doctor an asked about it they all say it normal it can last up to a week A WEEK but they don't understand that it's not to us I don't like the smell nor working like this I feel the need to take a shower every time I see a lil pink mix with the brownish dischange as well I hope I get a clean bill on next week Friday I pray I don't have to do this again

I know this was a while ago when this was written but this has really helped me. I've been freaking out about the putrid smell and discharge.. it's been 5 days since procedure. The smell makes me want to attach dryer sheets to my underwear. So gross..

Recovery was fast for me. I am still not pregnant yet, though, which I was hoping for after surgery. I can't find my original post so I don't remember how far along I post surgery I was, but if I can answer any questions, don't hesitate to ask. It can feel like a scary and overwhelming process.

Yes I had my cone biopsy last Wednesday and I was okay until about 2 days ago when I noticed that my pads were smelly and actually wet as If i pee'd myself. It's a clear liquid and I have no control for it. In my case the liquid is smelly but I'm sure it's definitely Italy from the solution the dcts use for the procedure as I was warned when i had a colpoa few months ago that there would be a not so pleasant smell when due to the solution that is used. What the heck is that liquid?? And howhat much longer for this smell to go away. I seriously feel like I stink and I feel people can smell me. It's not a very good feeling.

Hi, I just had my LEEP done 9 days ago, I had a discharge the first 3 days, then it stopped, it did smell like metal. and like my doctor told me it would be like a caramel color. Then days later I was at the store and suddenly I felt like something was coming out, I rushed home and my underwear was just wet, no color or smell, it happened several times after that, i was worried I was becoming incontinent but then the caramel color appeared with a slightly smell, so after reading so many post from women I know it's normal

I had my LEEP done one week ago, told the doc that some people said it would smell like dead animals and he scoffed at it but it is pretty bad. First couple of days was just the coffee gounds then hardly anything for awhile but on day 5 noticed brown gooey stuff coming out that smells bad and I am back to wearing a pad. My husband and I think it is like a scab coming off but that it wasn't dry because it is too moist around the cervix. Doc told me we could have sex after two weeks but from reading everything here it sounds too soon?

I just had my LEEP procedure done on Wednesday then by Friday the dark brown smelly discharge has started. And I feel self conscious about people smelling me. Thank you lady's for sharing your stories about this I don't feel alone...
