I have had vaginal bleeding for 7 weeks exactly now and have no idea why this has come about. The bleeding started one week before my period was due and I have had no pain what so ever. I have always had a normal period which usually only lasts around 3-5 days with immense pain but have never had this constant bleeding ever before. I have just turned 27yrs and do not have any children. I have been seeing a doctor since my 2nd week into the constant bleeding and we still don't know what it is exactly that is causing this abnormal bleeding. My doc suggested I have a blood test for thyroid, pregnancy, miscarriage, hormones & liver which all showed up negative except for my hormones and liver which gave slight abnormal readings (we don't know why my hormone levels were abnormal nor my liver reading as I do not drink alcohol often nor am I on any medication or contraceptive pills). I have since had an ultra sound (external and internal)on my pelvic area for my ovaries and uterus and an external abdominal ultra sound for my liver, gallbladder, kidneys, pancreas and spleen to which all have come back with normal results and cleared me from what my doc thought I might have "polycystic ovarian disease". So now my doc thinks "it might just be my hormones that are unbalanced" (and for what reason? we do not know) so my doc prescribed me these pills called "Primolut N" which I am to take one tablet 3x daily for 10 days. This is supposed to stop the bleeding while on the pills within the first three days of taking them but still must continue to take them for the full 10 days. Once the 10 days are up, I am supposed to get withdrawal bleeding which is meant to be like a normal period and only last like a normal period, then I should be fixed. If not, and the bleeding continues constantly like it has for the past 7 weeks, my doc says that she will have to refer me to a Gyno to have an internal biopsy done to see if this can determine what the cause is. So far, tomorrow will be the third day since taking the pills and I have seen a change already today where I haven't really bled much at all. So fingers crossed and I'll let you know once the 10 days are up and if the withdrawal bleeding stops. I'm at my whits end and sick of living like this ? I feel sorry for my bf and I'm so lucky he’s so understanding and caring!

Wow, that sounds mighty frustrating!

It seems like your doctors basically tested for everything that is known to have the ability to cause bleeding or bloody discharge between periods, and they turned nothing up. The confusing thing, to me, is that you said you had your hormone levels checked. Then after that, your doc says your hormones might be unbalanced. So what is it? Your hormones are normal or not? Jeez, so annoying!

I hope the biopsy shows something up and that you will at least know what the cause of this bleeding is. Is the bleeding really heavy? If so, you're losing a lot of blood so also talk to your doc about taking iron supplements.

I am so glad I have found somebody who is experiencing the same symptoms as me. Last year, I had a continuous bleeding for six months before it stopped on its own. I went to two different gynecologists and my regular doctor and all my blood tests, ultrasounds, etc. were normal. The only thing that was slightly irregular were my hormones, but they were still in the normal range. My doctor said I had PCOS at first and then after more tests he said I have hypothyroidism. Since then I've been taking thyroid medicine. This stopped my bleeding, but my periods were still very abnormal. I then went to an endocrinologist and checked everything again. He put me on spironolactone and had me stop the thyroid medicine. This was fine for the first week, but now I've been bleeding for four weeks straight. At times it's like a normal period, but at other times it's is very dark brown, almost black. If someone knows anything about this please let me know. If that medicine works for you honeychelles, let me know so I can ask my doctor about it.

hi there, yay i can finally say im back to normal the medication i was put on (Primolut N ) worked !!! After the 10days of taking the pill i got my period (withdrawal bleeding) 2 days later and i gotta say the bleeding was real heavy and made me crampy and in pain. I bled for 6 days and then that was it, the bleeding stopped. I think I'm cured. I'm still making an appointment with the gyno to make sure everything is fine and will let you know how that goes. Definitely speak to your doctor and see if the medication i was on is an option for you... good luck and i will post again soon!!!

I recommend them to do a vaginal ultra sound! Look at your uterus  It could be fluffy, have fibroid, also get your ovaries looked at it could be PCOS!

I have been bleeding for 6 weeks none stop. I went to the doctor, he recommended provera, one table for five days. This didnt work. I went back to him, he prescribed 2 provera tablets daily for five days. This didnt work. I went back to him, he said dont take anything for five days and see if it stops, this didnt work. He then sent me for an ultra sound and everything seemed normal. I still didnt stop bleeding so i decided to go see a gyno. He prescribed primolut 1 a day for 21 days..after the second day i stopped bleeding. today is the 12th day and i am bleeding again. is this normal???

I am 33 and have had the same problem, except its been over 5 months now. My doctor ran all the tests, gave me internal and external ultrasound, pap test. Everything came back fine. We also did the medication for 10 days and after the 3rd day my bleeding stopped but I was to continue the medication for the full 10 days, on the 11th day start on my birth control. Well after the 12th day my bleeding continued heavier then ever and it is day 7 now of birth control and the bleeding has gotten heavier, my doctor is stumped and has decided to refer me to another GYN to be examined since he is away and I need to be seen, he thinks I may need a D&C now but doesn't know where the cause of the bleeding is coming from.

It so frustrating because I myself feel like something is wrong but all the tests show nothing.

How have you been since your last treatment?

I'm looking for answers anywhere because I am at my wits end. Any information would be helpful. I've never had kids, I've never been pregnant or had any abortions so all of this is just 1 huge mystery.

I have had continual PV bleeding for the past 7 years now. I have been using primolut which only stops it for 6 months. After that the bleeding continues. Three days after completing the medication you will have a heavy flow with lots of cramps and pain for 5 days. I have found that drinking bitter stuff and stress cam trigger it off. I was told that it could either be fibroids cease Harmonial disorder or endometrosis. I am 25 years old and don't have any kids. I will like to have a child and praying that its not fibroids or i will have to do a histerectomy. I haven't seen a gynaecologist yet but I'm working on that now. I hope its not that serious with you. The earlier you check it out the better
