I am a healthy 33 year old female. I have had adhd all of my life. I started taking meds for this as a child of about 8 or 9. After trying several found one that worked well. Over the years and even with new discoveries the one med that really helps with my symptoms is adderall. I really dont care for the feeling that it produces but the results on my behaviors are are amazing. Recently I have had to switch health care providers due to insurance issues. My new provider insists that the manufactureres reccomended daily allowance is the maximum mgs that I should be taking. For many years I have been on the same dose (not much more than the reccomended amount) and now it has been lowered. I am not able to control my symptoms and the adhd is taking a toll on my life. I have two questions about this first, if the manufacturer reccomended dosage is such why have I always been prescribed a higher amount by every other provider that I have ever seen and was thissafe? And secondly, without changing providers get the amount increased back to where it was so my symptoms can become more manageable?
