Drinking alcohol while on Cephalexin does not reduce the efficacy of the antibiotic. That bit is the good news.
The bad news? Drinking while on antibiotics, including Cephalexin, can induce vomiting, headache, dizziness, and drowsiness — which are also among the effects of drinking too much, aren't they? Your liver is overloaded somewhat, when you're combining the two, and that's what's causing those side effects.
This is why your doctor may even recommend that you wait until a few days after your course of antibiotics is finished to enjoy a drink.
