Trazodone helped a little. Not a good thing to start taken. Stop working @ 100mg and stop taking. Not good @ all. Withdrawn problems and chronic insomnia. A nightmare. Don't start. Be free and strong.

I have been taking 100mg at night and hour before going to bed I take them plus 1 Zopiclone. Before the zopiclone would wake me every couple of hours for no reason at all and it was hard to get back to sleep. I talked to my Doc about it and he told me to add 100mg of Trazodone which I did and now I sleep like a baby all night long. The problem I am having are the side affects: sore lower back, not very steady on my feet, hard to get up from sitting or laying down. Does anyone have any of these symptoms?

i've been using Trazadone for over 10 years.  You need to be careful with dosage.  I get the 50 mg pills and take 3 on an average night.  4 if it's been a stressful day.  My doctor prescribes enough for me to take 6 a night and they last more than a month that way.  Never take over 600 total.  Plus they're cheap.

Only side effect I've had is wacky dreams.

You can't just stop brain meds. I know exactly how you feel. My advice is to take one tonight and for several days. Then...start taking 1?2 for several days then see if you can cut it into quarters and do that for a week. You should have been warned that you had to wean yourself!

For years I have suffered for insomnia I spoke with my doctors several time requesting medication to help me sleep and was told to buy OTC sleep aids. My husband was recently Rx Trazodone for depression and sleep and I have started to take his .Trazodone is a life saver I don't care about the addiction what frightens me is the rebound insomnia.

Sleep deprivation is not only miserable, its dangerous. I know from my own personal experience. It affects everything you do and all your relationships. There are a host of medical problems that sleep deprivation can aggravate or cause. Its not OK to go days without sleeping. Absolutely not acceptable. You need a doctor who understands this. 100 mg of Trazadone is not a very high dose if you have a real sleeping problem. There are many other sleeping pills that are probably much more risky (the hypnotics like Ambien). That being said, you may want to consider an overnight sleep study and find an insomnia specialist who can try to get at the root of the problem so that eventually you won't need the pills. That should be your goal. In any event, there has to be mutual trust and respect between you and your doctor and it sounds like your current MD is an imbecile. F/Y/I I’ve gotten the best referrals for specialists and primary MD’s from small reputable neighborhood pharmacists who tend to see who's doing well with which doctors and who isn’t. Often they have personal stories of their friends or relatives who went to see a particular doctor and who did well and who did not. Doctors will never say anything bad about another doctor and I’ve gotten the worst referrals from doctors who tend to recommend their golfing buds (not always, but in general). Always tell any doctor and pharmacist you see all meds and supplements you are taking because things interact. Best of luck in finding the doctor(s) that can help you.

I've just now started 25mg nite for sleep and depression and anxiety. Doc prescribed 200Mg and did not say how much to start with. I chose 25mg as I could easily cut pill to that. I'll go up 25mg every few days till maybe 100 and see how that does.

I get the best effect from clonazepam at 3mgs even tho Im prescribed to take it 1mg morning and night... I save it for when I really need it, and take 3mgs of it.......im also prescribed trazedone 50mgs at bed...but im used to it, it does nothing for me............. I just took 4 mgs of rivotril to escape some un happy situation and took a traz........ for me its all about blasting the hell outta anxiety.... since Im an ocd sufferer who cant take paxil because I could go manic with my schizoaffective disorder....... you wonder why I try to escape anxiety... I have had ocd untreated since I was 9 and used selfhelp psychology and science research to deal with it myself.......im 45 and ocd free except for anxiety...and the clopixol depot does its noticeless job.... I couildnt give a rats patootie about some SAD but my OCD is a monster.....  im trained in all kinds of pyschology which makes the training wheels the psych meds are pretty useful....buit  I do most of the worlk.......all in all dont rely solely on the meds...do your psych research... treat yourself psychologicially.........and then have fun playing doctor..... :)  after alll with 24 years of expeirience with meds....I know what Im doing directing doctors what I want to take..and what I refuse to take......

I have been taking Trazodone for about 3 months now (100mg) and I really enjoy it..unfortunately for me though, my body has started getting used to it since I take it every night. So every once in a while I have to pair it with 2 Advil PM. But yes, before this I kept waking up and could never go back to sleep! So glad I found this! If your doctor ever stops proscribing it to you, 3 Advil PM do the same thing!
