My boyfriend has asked me why I don't doushe. I was told a long time ago that doushing isn't good for women - that it causes yeast infections, etc. Is this true or is a myth? I'm 30 and have never doushed...not sure if I even know what to do. Is there a package/kit that I can buy at a drug store? Is there a website somewhere that'll give me information on dushing?

Normally it is not really necessary for a women to douche. Our bodies have it's own built in cleaning system. Nature keeps our PH in check on it's own.
Once in a while it's okay if you feel you need to.
There is a brand on the market called Massengil. It is about $2.00.
It also comes in different forms like, vinegar and water, baking soda and water, tropical flower scent and a betadine solution for infections.
Many women will douch after their periods, it just makes us feel "cleaner" down there.
It is simple to use. You will get a bottle of liquid, about 5 ozs. and a tube that you attach to the neck of the bottle. Sit on the toilet, spread your legs and insert the tube comfortably into your vagina, you don't need to shove it all the way in, just a little past the holes in the tube. Now squeeze the liquid into your vagina and it will come out into the toilet.
Done. Use the whole thing, you can't really store an opened bottle to long.
To make things more comfortable for you, hold the bottle under warm tap water for a few minutes, it warms it up so it doesn't shock you. Unless it's hot out, it'll probably feel good!
