I had C3 thru C6 done to fix spinal stenosis caused nerve impingement and years of neck pain, shoulder pain, and arm pain. Once the MRI was done it was clear that the nerve to my right arm was beginning to sever itself and surgery was only option. I finally agreed to surgery, was done as a day surgery so off to a six hour car ride home. Anyway, I did have an infection about 2 or 3 weeks into it so had to try to start healing all over again. Although the pain is different it has continued ever since...I have found nothing that really helps. My NP won't give me any narcotics, one one hand I can understand why but on my other hand their is the unrelenting pain, day after day. I'm not sure what to do about any of it as I live in a very rural area without much chance of finding another dr. I hope your pain responds better than mine....please let me know what you've tried and are trying.

The kind of pain you describe sounds like what I was going thru
I made them do an MRI of the shoulder
Three tares in my rotator cuff plus cyst loose bone and inflammation .
Now I knew why the pain would start and go down into my collar bone.
It's hard to tell with neck and shoulder but if you can't put your arm behind you if bet it's your shoulder

I had the same procedure accept only one level C5-6 . My fingers and toes were completely numb with pins and needles. MRI showed complete herniation and ot was crushing my spinal cord. After surgery I had a severe allergeric reaction to the dermabond and had a blisterie rash and had to have wound revision because the incision would not close up after 6 weeks and I was soooo itchy! I also had to have 2 more MRIS of l-spine and t-spine. Since then I am in complete agony! My neck hurts soooo bad and it is constant. I do not sleep well, I can not get comfortable no mater how hard I try. I go to therapy 2 times a week, but this pain has become debilitating! I am wondering if there is an underlying problem that is being missed. All of my joints hurt, expecially my hands, fingers, toes, feet, elbows, wrists. I do have more compressed cord in my l-spine at L-4-5 and L-5-S-1 and I am opting for therapy b4 surgery again. I am desperate to get some relief. How long am I gonna be in pain and why do my joints hurt so bad and the worst is my hands!

I had my surgery two months ago. Healing was going slow and originally it was my right arm. Now I have lost us of my last three fingers on the left side. I was feeling ghost pains elsewhere down my leg or top of my foot. Stay off the computer is a biggie. I decided to just pull a weed growing up one of my Christmas trees. Bad idea. Pain now back on the tops of both arms. Second checkup, July 15. Had o take pain meds again. Doc said I had some nerve damage originally. Hope this helps and all goes away. Some tell me six months to a year to feel good

sorry for the pain... You got denied for disability after all the medical evidence? After you turned in all the medical records for a year, physical therapy, MRI, CT Scan, x-rays still denied? Hope you win after hiring a lawyer.

I, too, am experiencing pretty severe pain when yawning. Had sergury in March on 5,6,7. Will this go away with more time? I haven't seen an answer to anyone's questions regarding this issue. Thank you in advance for your response.

Just had a c3 - c7 fusion on Monday. Today is Saturday and I'm getting better. I had major issues with the pain medications. After 3 different ones, all the crazy side effects of vomiting, dizziness, anxiety, etc.. last 36 hours I've only used Tylenol and muscle relaxers. I have developed a healing regime for myself and plan to use it faithfully. I'm so sorry many of you have had such horrible experiences!!

My husband had cervical spine where a titanium did was put in. Doctor said he would be playing golf in 4 weeks. Be. He now suffers from severe beck, shoulder and earn pain and his left hand has become useless. He went to a number of doctors, and MRI's. All said nothing could be done and one said it was a failed surgery. So now NY husband is a crippled person.
