I started taking the pill during my sophomore year of high school not knowing any symptoms. I recently stopped taking it because my boyfriend moved away for a while and I knew that I wouldn't have to worry about pregnancy. Its been about three weeks since I've stopped taking it and about a week ago I started to feel symptoms of a yeast infection. I got out of the shower one morning and I had this horrible burning sensation. I immediately looked on WebMD to see if I had a serious disease. I saw that one of the symptoms I had (Burning) was a symptom for yeast infections but I didn't believe that I had it. About a hour ago I had an itching sensation so I went to wash up and see if it would go away. It didn't. It made it worse and I couldn't figure out what was wrong.

I so know how all of you feel. I used to take triphasil bc and rarely had any problems unless I took an antibiotic. When I turned 40 my gyno switched me to the bc pills that have the same hormone level the whole month. It has been 7 years and I get one every month. I have seen three different doctors at the same practice and they all tell me the same thing as the person above that it can't be that but like she says above - I KNOW MY BODY! They put me on the 90 day pill and a week before my period comes, BAM - another yeast infection. I am so tired of the doctors not listening to me. I have an appt with a new gyno at a different practice and I hope she listens. Seven years of this is making me crazy! It affects me life so much, oh and I don't eat gluten or sugar, wear cotton undies, been married for 12 years so no multiple partners, work out 4 days a week, get yearly physicals and all my blood work is perfect so it has to be the bc pills, no other explanation. I understand how you all feel. Good luck to us all.

so I have the symptoms of a yeast infection. it's caused by hormone imbalances so I think it's because of my birth control. Should I just take yeast infection pills and get my period at the same time since I need to get myself off of bc? i don't think my body is able to handle it

I just started a new birth control about a month ago and I have a yeast infection. It could be that or that I just finished using tampons on my period. I read they can cause yeast infections too and I have gotten them in the past year right after my period so I'm not sure which is the cause yet. Change your tampons regularly if you use one. Ask a pharmacist about taking yeast infection medicine while having your period. I just don't know.

Try a different birth control and taking acidolphius, multivitamins and garlic the non odor kind everyday along with plenty of water a day, just a suggestions, it helped me from once a month to atleast every two to three months, everyone varies. I was also told, shaving down there when the skin is already slightly irritated will make it even worse. I'm having the same problems atleast once a month, I was told to help with some of the symptoms to take a luke warm bath with a cup in a half of apple cider vinegar (Braggs) made with organic apples; soak for 15 to 20 minutesit suppose to help the acidity, I forgot so it wont be as bad while doing treatments and use creams for irritated skin, prescribed by doctor and using panty liners changing them out atleast every two hours or less; Still get treated by a doctor if its to a point that's its unbearable, but I was also told the prescription the doctor give such as fluconazole will clear it but not to the root of the problem and will come back worse everytime. (Terrible)

I KNOW WHY!!!! It's the birth controls fault Your period is what keeps you from having a yeast infection When the period is gone or even mild it can clean you and protect against the infection The blood just clogs and gets old and gross causing a decease or infection

I have been taking birth control pills for about a year now and I would keep getting recurring yeast infections. It was frustrating, but I wanted to stay on the pill. I brought the recurring yeast infections up to my doctor and she recommended taking a probiotic. Probiotics help restore the balance of bacteria in your gut, which controls the yeast infections. I started taking the renew life ultimate flora probiotic with 50 billion cells, and I found that taking the probiotic every morning dramatically helped control the infections. I've been doing this for about a month and have had great results :) hope this helps

I have had the same problem for the past year. A few months into getting back on BC, i started to get them every single month. I am not going off the BC to see if it solves the problem. I just ended my last pack about 2 weeks ago and am having symptoms of one now. But hopefully they will go away once i balance back out and build up goos bacteria again (at leaat i hope). Ive been taking probiotics as well. Glad to see i am not the only one.
