I think most people are just shocked that these symtoms pop up after many years of being on the pill with no problems. You know your own body, and the patterns you experience on and off the pill, so when something out of the ordinary happens it can make you worry. There's nothing wrong with being concerned about changes in your menstrual cycle and you shouldn't feel embarrassed to visit your GP or gyn to get it checked out.

wow...thank you all for making me feel better. i cried today when i started bleeding and i couldn't have sex with my boyfriend. ive been telling my Dr about this for some time now but its so much worse this time. sometimes i cant even use a pad or a tampon because its not even worth it. other times i dont even have a period or bled for months but lately my body is making up for it. i was tested for low thyroid hormone levels and they came back normal. i finally gave in and called the Dr's office today because i was so upset and asked the Dr's nurse to have the Dr to do something. I believe when she comes in tomorrow she is going to call me in something so I stop bleeding and will hopefully put me on a stronger pill. Im currently on loestrin 24 and the only side effect ive had is the breakthrough bleeding.

I know this post is old, but did you ever get this fixed? I have the exact same problem that I have now been trying to get fixed since 2008 and having been on 6 different pills and the implant, it appears that being on nothing (condoms only) is the only solution...any one have any better news?

Hello everyone

I have been reading all you stories about bleeing in between periods this all seem so common and very much what I had 8 years ago but no longer have problems with.

I was 22 years old now am 33yrs had been on the pill for many years then the bleeding stated in between periods and sometimes after sex. I decided to go the DR she sent me for some investigation procedures, I had Hysteroscopy = procedure which allows the doctore to look inside your uterus, I had a Dilation and Curettage = dilation is enlarging the cervix and curettage scrapping for tissues samples. the drs noticed that my cervix where red and inflammed so they burnt off some cells. to this day I have not ever had anymore problems with my women parts lol. The samples where sent off and they were negative. The drs explantion to me where = That after many years on the pill it can make the cells in your uterus start to appear on your cervix and vaginal which they shouldn't as there are different cells there. Those cells should appear when you are going through menopause? I think. Anyway the cells apearing in your cervix is a common cause from the pill!!!!!!! I said to the doctor why don't you tell you paitents this as a side effect? she said that the risks of not being on the pill are far greater then being on it and getting the bleeding!!! but should'nt the paitent have that decision to make????? I have no problems know with my vagina, uterus or cervix and have had 2 beautiful children. Just remember if you aren't happy with your doctors treament keep searching with other doctors to get a answer to your problems I know how it feels and how depressing it can be to have women issues and not know what to do or don't feel normal.
There is hope ladies!!!!

Hi. I had a baby back in February, and six weeks after delivery I started the patch for birth control.(I've been on the pill and the patch before on and off for a few years at a time since I was 16, now I am 28.) After being on the patch for a month I decided to switch back to the pill that I had been on before I became pregnant for the third time (this started in May) just because I did not think The patch was sticking good enough. Midway through my cycle in July, I started noticing brownish discharge, like the kind you have at the end of your period, very light brownish discharge, accompanied by very slight abdominal cramps. During this time I discovered a lump in between my perinium area and vagina. This was like that of some kind of mass, not just under the skin but deep in the tissue, I could be felt in the opening of the vagina. I went to the doctor for the lump/mass and she treated me as if I had some kind of infection. The lump finally went away, but I have still continued to experience light brownish discharge mid way during my cycle. I usually happens 10 days after starting a new month of pills and last about five days, and is always accompanied by light abdomional cramping. This month I am seven days into my new pack of pills instead of ten like previously and NOW I am actually experiencing light bright red bleeding/ spotting and light abdominal cramping. Has any one experienced any thing like this? Do you thik this could be related to the lump/mass that I had experienced in the beginning? HELP PLEASE!!!

Hi

I have had the same problem now for nearly two years after taking Microgynon 30 for 3.5 years without any problem. I have had a full battery of tests which all came back negative and I must have tried 6 pills at least. It is actually getting worse. Has anyone found a solution other than switching to an IUD which my other half is not keen on?

Hello,
I have started taking YASMIN birth control pills 12 days ago on december 21st and it was my first day of my period. But today i was scared while having sex with my husband that i had pink bleeding for few minutes and wiped them out and when i urinated the pink thing appeared too but disappeared later, and yesterday at night i witnessed a small pink spot on my underwear. I had a home pregnancy test and it is negative.
I am scared i could have an ectopic pregnancy because i heard that it doesnt appear in home tests. I feel so scared could i be pregnant? Or this is a normal symptom of birth control pills. And by the way when i took the pills on my first period day, the period was lighter than usual and shorter ( i used to have a 6 days period ) but after taling the pills i had a 4 days period. Thanks for any help on advance.

Docs usually go for high doses of estrogen to avoid breakthrough bleeding. I had to increase dosage after 5 years on the same pill to stop the bleeding

Hi! Same exact situation is going on with me. (I'm on Seasonale & am also 37.) I know this is a year later, but I'm writing to find out if you ever did come to a conclusion about what was going on. My breakthrough bleeding started last week...a full month before I was due. It's very light & very annoying. Thanks for sharing any info you might have! Kim

True, but not if it happens years after taking the same pill. May be best to make sure you have no growths or something going on to cause prolonged bleeding. Never hurts to be safe.
