I have strong back pain. That happened as a result of discus hernia. Pain is not tolerable at all, and they tend to get worse in the evening. I think sometimes they are so strong I will not be able to deal with it. I am taking Aleve and I would like to know if I can take 4 Aleve every 12 hours?

I can tell you that, beside Aleve, there are some other types of medications that act as pain reliever. Aleve, as other NSAID meds, must be taken only as doctor told you, with exact dosages. Main reason for this is to avoid unwanted bad side effects, those could be very serious, such as ulcers, allergic reactions…

I don't think Priscilla answered the question. I'm sure the person asking the question knew there would be consequences from taking 4 Aleve in 12 hrs. She wanted to know what would happen, like I would like to know what would happen. I've taken 2 Aleve, forgot I had taken them, and took 2 more after only 2 hrs. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what will happen.

I take 4 over the counter aleve, every four or five hours for my cluster headaches that come regulary every five hours (like clock work) and last up to 45 mins ... causing my jaw (TMJ) and neck & sholder (Temporal Arteritis) to lock up and my ear stops up and i can't see out of one eye; all on one side of my head... if I don't take them in those intervals.  2 aleve in twelve hours would never touch these or ward them off like the 4 ever 4/5hrs does.  I've tried.  I've also tried tylenol and Excderins and Ibprofines - Aleve is all that works w/o making me feel worse. Every doctor I've seen wants to dope me up or blows it off as a common cluster headache - nothing they perscribe works

I'm not dead, I'm not sick to stomach, not dizzy nor do I have stomach issues or any other side effect after years of taking them this way.  I'm 50 years old, and I've been takin aleve this way for about four years now.

As a cluster headache/ migraine person too. I take Benadryl and it goes away! Try not to take a lot of Aleve or your kidneys will stop working. Please try and it can help. Also magnesium citrate 500mg gel caps helps a lot too. Good luck! ps. I know it's like a year ago you posted.

This comment has been a huge help to me - thank you. I am very new to nerve pain, solely in my left leg especially the knee. Had a terrible night last night with knee pain and was putting way too much c**p in my body (over 10 hours: 3500 mg aceteminophen, 1600 mg ibuprofen, Nyquil, 5 mg Norco) - nothing was working, the opioid barely made a dent in my pain. Stretching exercises - not working. In the morning, took 3 Aleve (660 mg) and it is 6 hours later and I feel great. Took a spinning class this morning. It worked fast and continues to work. Now I know what to take and I don't think 3 over 24 hrs will be enough. I will try 4 over 24 hrs and see what happens but will not be afraid to take more if I need to. Kidneys are fine. I'm very healthy otherwise.

I am suffering from SEVERE back pain since the morning of the 13th. I had a spasm and ever since then, my back has not stopped hurting. Went to the doctor and he prescribed me a muscle relaxer, 1 in the morning and 1 at night. He told me to take Aleve with it. But he didn't say how much. I take 2 Aleve, twice a day, along with my muscle relaxers. It barely puts a dent in my pain but it makes it bareable enough to be able to sleep, until I move or jerk and wake up in writhing pain.(I tend to move quite a bit in my sleep!) I've read the bottle and it said do not take more than 3 in 24 hours. I've been taking 4 of them for 2 days now and haven't had ANY side effects. Even when I take Ibuprofen for other stuff, before I've had this spasm, I take 2 to 3 every 6 hours if I need it, and I have had absolutely no side effects.

I take two Aleve every 12 hours. The doctor said that was fine. I’ve never had a problem. One every 12 hours just doesn’t help the pain

Can I take Aleve while I'm taking Antibiotics?

As others have mentioned, taking a lot of NSAIDs like Aleve regularly can cause serious long-term side effects. There are lots of ways to reduce inflammation naturally, like turmeric extract and ice/heat therapy.

I have a very bad shoulder pain after exercising. I took one ALEVE pill, two hours ago, but the pain persists. Can I take a Dexketoprofen pill? I am a 54 years old female.
