People very naive on here - buying vacuum cleaners with UV lights saying 'it works' without no scientific proof. At least I'd expect them to take samples and look under a microscope to see the reduction, not just feel less 'itchy'?!

Hi, not a good idea to steam the bed/mattress itself. While the steam might kill some mites which are close to the surface it will leave the mattress very moist and this will create the best environment for the dusmites to breed at a higher rate. The mattress should be kept as dry as possible and an electric sheet might be a better idea (there were studies done on the carpets after the steam clean and that was their findings)
