i am 22 years old and have been taking birth control pills for the past 6 months. i was on one for 2 months then changed to another and was on it for 1 month. i started taking ovcon and am on the third month of it. i like it more than the other two. i had my regular period last month at the normal time but it lasted longer than usual...about 11 days. it finally stopped and about 9 days after that it was like i started my period again. i had the cramps and back pain like i normally do and all. it will stop and start on a daily basis. it's not as heavy as my normal period but it's enough blood to have to wear a tampon. this has been going on for about 3 1/2 weeks. i'm not sure what it is. i have been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend but stopped once this started. i haven't seen an obgyn yet. i'm a little nervous. has this happened to anyone and what were your results?

I had my DEPO shot at the end of May and a week after the shot I have been constantly bleeding. At times just spoting but when it's my regular period time I bleed normally. The shot is supposed to last 3 months then taken again. Thankfully I only did one shot and hopefully the spotting will stop and I stop gaining weight, being angry all the time, hot flashes, no sex drive etc... it's horrible!!

I had irregular bleeding when I was 22. I ran the battery of tests for STDs and was diagnosed with chlamydia. Antibiotics clear this and the partner (s) must be treated. I discovered my husband was having sex with someone other than me.

I am having almost the same exact problem that you are (or were). Have you gotten any help with it?
I just visited an OBGYN today and he pretty much just shoved more pills on me and told me nothing was wrong. I feel like something IS wrong. I feel like I need to be seen and fully checked out.
What are some possible causes of this problem!?

I have also had this problem. I was on the depo shot for a while which was great as i had no periods at all. As i travel a lot i moved onto the implant as i found it hard to get the depo shot every three months. I had regular periods for the first year and half, and then began to have constant bleeding which continued for 3 months. I spoke to one doctor who gave me tablets which stopped it, so i stopped taking them as i smoke and did not want to increase the risks associated with this by taking two lots of birth control. About two months later it started again so i went back to see a different doctor as i was in a different town who suggested i should check for STD's. I went to see the original doctor who disregarded this and gave me more of the tablets and said i should take these for 3 months to stop it correctly. These stopped it and i had regular periods for about 3 months and it has started again, although my first periods were just longer than usual, being about two to three weeks, although my last one just has not stopped. I still have not checked for std's as i am not very keen on this, although i know that i should, but when i am most worried about it is when i am bleeding and you cannot do it then. When i last went to see the doctor he said to keep a diary, which i am but i think the problem has gone on for so long that this is not necessary. I am also a bit worried the implant is not working and that would be a cause of the bleeding, although the nurse said thats not true and is not keen on taking it out until the three years are up, which is october. I am also be very keen for advice as i find the constant bleeding very stressful and am desperate for it to stop!!

About 2 years ago, I had the problem of having my period for days on end. it would then seem to disappear and days later come back. It was never heavy, but enough to be annoying. I went my OBGYN, and after doing a Pap, and an internal ultrasound they found that I have many cysts on my ovaris. I have what is called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. You can ask your doctor if this may be your problem.
In regards to changing pills and having between period "periods", changing pills and not using the same one can cause this. Your doctor should have told you it takes a while for pills to take effect.

I myself have been on the DEPO for about 8-9 months now I believe. Along this time the first two shots have seemed to be alright. I had the normal period, then it went away. At the time of having my 3rd shot, things began to change. I had my period like normal, but it stuck with me, rather than leaving like it had normally done. Now I've been bleeding for close to a month and 1/2. However, its not heavy, just at times.

I've noticed a slight weight gain and I've been a lot hungrier than normal? Also, my mood has switched a lot. I've become easily annoyed and upset. I snap out over little things and I've slowly allowed for my Bi-Polar to continue beating me up. I've talked to my doctor about this, and they said that the 3rd shot is the one that screws up some, but the 4th is when most women stop having their periods. I'm so lost on what to do right now, because I'm due for my 4th shot here in Dec. Should I get it then see what happens? Or pull myself off the shot and start new? I need advice BIG time.

About a year and a half ago now i went on the depo jab, and since then ive been suffering from heavy periods. by that i mean, constant period for a year and a half, no break, just constant. i went on the implant to try and stop it and been on countless medication like mefenamic acid and nothing had worked, and a year on i am still on my period. i dont know what it feels like to be normal?

hi I been on the depo for two and half years my last shot was in May of 2010. I got my period in October and twice in NoVember and off and on in December. I just want to be normal again. I am planning to see my doctor because this is not regular for me. I am scare because if this birth control is making my body go through what is going through I need help so this will not happen to no one else. For me I have children to live for and take care of. Iam in prayer and know that this birth control is not made for women to go through what we go through

I have been spotting A LOT this month. I started my period February 1st after skipping two or three periods. My period stopped for a few days and then my boyfriend and I had intercourse, when we were...finished, we found ourselves covered in a profuce ammount of blood. I am not on any form of birth control, nor have I ever been. I stopped the bleeding the next day, but ever since this incident, I have had mild spotting just about every day all month. It's a little stronger after intercourse but my maaan and I don't really have sex but every few days, so I know that's not all that is causing it. I have PCOS, have had it for several years, but have NEVER experienced this problem. The blood, even in mild spotting, is bright red. I don't currently have health insurance so can't afford to pay my physician a visit... any one have anything to tell me that may explain my problem???? :
