Depo Provera ruined my life!

I am 18 i got on Depo when i was in 9th(2012) grade at age 15 I believe. I was 115 when i began... i also gained a tremendous amount of weight, i am now off of the shot have been since Feb 2016 . I now weigh 165lbs... my senior year i weighed 180-200+lbs! . I also am no longer fertile.... but still have to deal with the lovely monthly gift... i hate my body, i have severe depression over it and i am also developing an eating disorder and i am addicted with checking my weight.... i have cried myself to sleep also... i got on it bc my periods were/are extremely heavy and I didn't want that while i was in HS... but it has screwed up my life.

It all started in the year 2013 when I met my boyfriend who is now my husband he was my first for everything pretty much my first love. I left to Tennessee after I met him and I was actually going to stay to live there I was having issues at home I needed a break.  So I eventually left was there a month and I had to comeback for my husband lol yes well everything was good going in to the 5th month of dating we decided to look into birth control well we eventually went with the Mirena. Now it's the 10th month dating when on may 6 or 7 I got the IUD it was pretty intense I never told my parents about it I actually said I'm going for a mammogram so that was my story.  The day finally came of my appointment so I walked to the bus stop and I was waiting that's why it's important to get that license :/ I need to get mine blehh I'm so close anyway  I guess the bus was running late and I needed to be there 30 minutes early ugh again can't rely on that bus all the time. So I decided to call my mom and asked her if my brother is there that way he can give me a ride but he wasn't there so my father volunteered ugh I was having problems with both of them :( . OK yes they kept saying that my boyfriend was only using me and as soon as he was done he was going to say ok have a nice life but they didn't know he was planning on marrying me ❤ so yes I didn't want my dad to come but he did so he picks me up and all through the ride he was just so negative. Basically that I was stupid and this and that and ugh I was so mad and sad thinking what I'm about to do got me sadder so we finally get there and I just slammed the door I was like f**k this!!!!  pardon my language I was very emotional. So I check in and everything and finally its time so relax myself and idk how I did it well I channeled all that anger all that sadness into calming myself down. OK so I'm in the room waiting until finally it's show time it begins the nurse was by me I didn't even flinch or even moaned or anything they were very surprised lol they said usually patients are freaking out and almost jumping off the table but no I was calmed got home it's done. It say that a person has to wait 7 days before doing anything down there so we waited and finally yup it was interesting not using a condom felt good fast forward to May 28 I got married to this dude my dark prince happiest day if my life we had a simple wedding and me had a small dinner nothing fancy just simple -

I've been on depo for 3 years after having my second child and I'm scared to death like I'm not taking this bs again. I've gained so much i think I gained over 80 lbs so far but my breast are u normal I went 2 cup sizes in a yr depression and anxiety is thru the roof. I'm so unhappy I wear Sweat pants and the it's all yr around cause jeans will fit me maybe once wear again and too small. I don't wish theveryone poems for Noone... :(

Im so sorry to hear about your experience with weight gain. I am currently recovering from the depo shot's affects- which for me included severe depression, weight gain, and acne. I only had the shot one time, and since the initial shot it has been five months. My depression is still persistent (I have never experienced depression before depo!) but my acne is healing gradually and my weight seems to slowly be returning to normal. I just recently had my first normal period! so there's that. It's hard to feel sane during all of it- my self esteem has plummeted. I really hope you feel better soon

My daughter was on the Depp shot for 4 years. Gained a lot of weight .She has been off the Depp for 5 years and still has much weight I stomach area. No period and cannot get pregnant. She has not taken any BC in 5 years. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TAKING THE DEPO FOR OVER A YEAR.
