Hi, I had deviated septum surgery 19 days ago. It was a relatively painless operation with paracetamol as the prescribed pain killer. I had the packing taken out at 6:30am the next morning & two sheets of plastic that had been stitched into my nose, taken out 1 week later. At that 1 wk appointment my surgeon told me to now use a sterile sea-salt spray 2-4 times a day, said my septum is now perfectly straight & seemed to think that I should now be able to breathe more easily.

Well, unfortunately my nostrels are as blocked as they were before the surgery & even worse at nights when I have to try to sleep with my chin right back and my mouth wide open. My mouth gets very dry & I keep needing to sip water throughout the night. I often don't get to sleep at all until I pass out for a couple of hours in the morning!

Aside from that, my nose is still scabby and sore (tingly, stinging pain) & (sorry for being gross) but some rather large scab type things come out everyday when I blow it.

I thought it was supposed to heal and you were supposed to breathe easily after 2 weeks. Has anyone else had a longer recovery period like me?  Will I ever be able to breathe through my nose and sleep at nights?!
