Diagnosed with a penile yeast infection, but symptoms are getting worse

There was a rash on my penis head and my foreskin had a swollen lump on it. I recently had unprotected sex so I wanted to see a doctor about it. He said it is most likely a fungal infection. Told me to grab lotrimin/clotrimazole and to rub it on the rash 3 times a day for 10 days. The symptoms did not clear up, they actually worsened. The rash has spread and has become much more itchy. I've been using the lotrimin cream for 5 days now and nothing seems to be clearing up.
