Do chewable pepto Bismol tablets give you a black tongue?

My husband, who never takes time off for illnesses, did with GI problems. Throughout yesterday, he was taking Pepto Bismol and took two before bed. He screamed down the hall to me, his wife a dental hygienist, my tongue is black!! My scientific brain started and As I was thinking call my employers, I saw the box of Pepto! Thank goodness we are laughing now!!!

Oh my God I was freaking out!!!! I had just called my doctor to get an appointment. After I couldn't get an appointment decided to check the internet before rushing to the emergency room. Thank you all for your post because I had chewed two pepto bismol tablets in bed the night before. What a relief!!!!!!!

Me too I had to take two last night before bed chewed and disolved them woke up this morning with black on my teeth and inbetween them and on my tongue. I thought I had a stomach bleed because 2 months ago my dad had cancer and died from a stomach bleed that caused his lungs to fill with asperated blood and he was throwing up black watery fluid so I thought I must have thrown up when i was sleeping and slept through it. we were getting reading to go to the hospital. Glad we didnt prob would have had alot of un nessasary tests

Ha-ha omg I took 2 last night before bed because I had heart burn and woke up before my alarm with a gross taste in my mouth I laied there for like 10 mins and couldn't handle the taste so I got up to brush my teeth and when I opened my mouth I thought I was dieing! Weirdest thing I've ever seen looked like my mouth rotted over night. All stained black bleh! I brushed my teeth 3 times and there is still some one my tounge.

I'm so glad I read this.I woke up this morning and started brushing my teeth and spit in the toilet and my spit and tooth paste were black. When I looked in the mirror half my tongue was black.

I woke up this morning to brush my teeth and the same had happened. I tasted the hint of pepto so I assumed it was that. I'm not sure what active ingredient causes that. I tested it out on my hand and some water, but I doubt my hand will turn black. Thank god this exists and is the 2nd link when you search for "why do I have a black tongue?" XD

Whew! My daughter took a pepto bismal pill during the night because she had an upset stomach, and she just woke up and showed me her black tounge. I immediately got on the internet to try to find out what it means. I was almost in panic mode thinking we were going to have to go to the ER! Thank goodness for the internet!!

I'm glad I read this! After I saw my black tongue at 3am I couldn't go back to sleep. I was trying to figure what I ate? new toothpaste? The essential oil I used. Ugh! Pepto-bismol. UGH!

Wow! I just woke up with a hirrible taste in my mouth. When I went to brush my teeth my tounge was black. I freaked out and tried to brush it off and even used mouth wash. Then I googled and found this. What a relief! I took 2 chewable pepto before bed last night. I though I must have something serious going on.

Had the same happen to me this morning so I went on the website and saw this.
