In my experience yes, . I started taking it again for itchy skin , left it off for a few months and was ok . But over the past couple of weeks since starting to take it again, I have begun to feel worthless , as if no one likes me, and my art has suffered (I paint) .I suddenly twigged it was the Fenofexidine as I gave it up last year for the same reasons but forgot. So maybe stop it for a month and see if it makes a difference. I am stopping it today . Not worth the depression .

I started taking Allegra about a week ago for my seasonal allergies. I rarely get depressed, but I have felt very depressed, stressed, and have had horrible feelings of impending doom for the past few days. I've also had vivid, unsettling dreams, which also is very unusual for me. I'm so glad I found this, and now have an answer for why I've been feeling this way. Will definitely not be taking any more Allegra.

Hi, guest.

While Fexofenadine (Allegra) is generally considered safe and does not typically cause depression as a side effect, it is possible that some individuals may experience depression as a rare side effect.

It is not clear how long it would take for the depression to go away after stopping Fexofenadine. However, in general, the timeline for resolving medication-related side effects varies depending on the individual and the medication involved. It may take a few days or several weeks for the symptoms to improve.

In the meantime, if you are struggling with depression, there are some things you can do to help manage your symptoms. These include:

- Getting regular exercise: Exercise has been shown to be an effective way to improve mood and reduce symptoms of depression.

- Eating a healthy diet: Eating a diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein can help to support mental and physical health.

- Getting enough sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night to help improve mood and reduce stress.

- Practicing relaxation techniques: Techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, and yoga can help to reduce stress and improve mood.

- Seeking support: Reach out to friends, family, or a mental health professional for support and guidance.

It is important to remember that depression is a treatable condition, and with the right treatment and support, it is possible to manage symptoms and improve your quality of life.

I noticed fexofenadine causes me to be depressed and irritable. Glad to see these posts to verify it’s not just me. I was in an even mood and after taking generic Allegra for a few weeks, I noticed my mood started to go down. This happened last year as well, but not to the extent that it was this year. But I have been on it longer this year- several months. So I think it’s OK as a short term thing but I know personally, I will not be using it for more than a month at a time because I definitely noticed the negative mood effects. now that I’ve stopped taking it, my mood is back to normal. So while someone below said these are rare side effects that don’t usually happen to people -that happened all of us on this post. and it’s not just a mild depression. It’s pretty severe when it happens.

I tried Allegra for a month. After about a week, I had persistent thoughts about suicide. I thought about hanging myself, or checking into a hotel and overdosing. Now that I'm off of it, I feel emotionally better. I feel fine, although my chronic hives are aggravating.

A possible side effect of chronic hives is increased chance of suicide. Could this be from ongoing antihistamine use, and not the hives?

Thank you, everyone for sharing.

I’m glad I found this thread. I haven’t taken any histamines in a long time because I don’t like the drowsiness. I took fexofenadine this morning and by around 5:30 in the afternoon I was feeling oncoming depression. I do suffer from depression which I am medicated for so I know what it feels like when it’s coming on.
