I'm 15 and only just started my period this year. However, several months before that I started noticing a clear sticky discharge. It hasn't gone away. I have checked in some books and it will say tiny things like "You may notice a clear disharge in the lining of your underpants." But that's all that is said and it moves on to other topics. I have not had sexual intercourse as of yet so I'm not entirely sure what this is. At first I wasn't worried, as the aforementioned books seemed to think it was normal. But now I'm concerned. Any suggestions? Thank you.

It is completely normal to have a clear/white discharge during your menstrual cycle. It will change throughout the cycle from whiteish and sticky to clear and stretchy depending on what part of the cycle it is. When it is white and sticky it is usually the less fertile times of the month. It will turn clear and stretchy as you approach ovulation, then go back to white as you near your period. This mucous is produced by the cervix. If you want to know more about it, google cervical mucous. You only need to be concerned about it if it is smelly or itches, which might indicate a yeast infection.
