Hi! My close friend got Herpes Zoster. It is very painful for her and she is very nervous because this disease. To be worse, as you know, Herpes Zoster is very contagious and she spends most of the time alone. Her doctor prescribed her treatment with Famvir once daily, but she thinks that it would be better if she takes this drug in larger amounts. Hello! Famvir is very strong antiviral drug and it should be taken exactly as it is prescribed. I think that her doctor knows best. I have heard that some doctors recommend taking Famvir twice daily, because, according to them, if you take Famvir twice daily, this drug stays in organism longer and they think that treatment effects are better. Anyway, you cannot use drugs on your own. I am sure that her doctor knows why prescribed taking this drug once daily. Also, if she notice that after few days symptoms of Herpes Zoster disappear, that does not mean that she should stop with taking Famvir.
